Social Work Services Manager

Organizational Summary

The Corner Health Center is Michigan's first, largest and most comprehensive adolescent and young adult health center. The Corner serves youth and young adults ages 12 through 25 (and their children) and has over 40 years of experience providing care to individuals with complex needs. The Corner provides high quality, judgment-free, affordable health and wellness care and education.

Job Summary

The Corner Health Center seeks a Social Work Services Manager. This is an exempt, full-time position with a competitive salary. This person will report directly to the Director of Healthcare Operations. This position provides management and leadership for the Corner’s Social Work Services under the banner of healthcare operations. Working in close partnership with the clinic services manager, the Social Work Services manager implements an integrated care model while providing day-to-day administrative supervision for Social Workers and other staff providing behavioral health care, therapy, and other care services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manages the implementation of the Corner’s Social Work programs and services, ensuring the high-quality, productive, and evidence-based delivery of behavioral health, therapy, and other Social Work programs and services. Uses evidence-based practices that fit the Corner’s culture and values.
  • Co-leads the Integration Meeting, providing dyad supervision for an interdisciplinary team of nursing and Social Work team members leading behavioral health, perinatal health programs, gender affirming care services, and more.
  • Serves as a member of the treatment team, working with other disciplines in diagnosing problems, formulating treatment plans, and evaluating progress.
  • Hires, trains, supervises, and mentors the Social Work Team, including LLMSWs and LMSWs, with goals, expectations, outcomes reporting, one-on-one coaching, and any other team needs. Meets with team regularly.
  • Contributes thought-leadership to and models the integration of Social Work principles and ways of work into and across clinical service delivery and non-clinical programmatic areas of the Corner.
  • Provides regular direct Social Work service, maintaining a case load of at least twelve patients per week.
  • Leads the program improvement and outcome evaluation of Social Work programs and behavioral healthcare, suggesting the development and creation of new projects and programs (including Group Therapy as appropriate), and recommends changes, improvements, and sunsetting programs and projects which are ineffective and/or unsustainable.
  • Facilitates regular Social Work Team Meetings and follows-up with action steps, including coordinating continuing education trainings and updating the team on internal policies and general updates.
  • Administratively manages the provision of behavioral health therapy:
    1. Tracks data on cancellations/no-show appointments to support and improve continuity of care and treatment;
    2. Keeps uniform records by reviewing and auditing patient files;
    3. Monitors team’s productivity, daily task completion, disciplinary actions, and implements performance enhancement plans as needed;
    4. Monitors team’s daily encounters and scheduling of regular appointments to meet productivity goals;
    5. Regularly reviews Social Work service data to inform program improvement;
    6. Monitors all financial, budgetary, and billing aspects for all Social Work Services.
  • Ensures timely response and resolution to urgent patient care needs. Responds to patient and community concerns/complaints related to Social Work Services and behavioral health care.
  • Oversees the management of patient intake and maintaining the waitlist and assigns new patients to Social Work staff.
  • Participates in monthly inter-organizational Connection meeting.
  • Work with Development staff on the creation of grant applications and reports that support Social Work Services and programs.
  • Complies with all healthcare operations department processes and procedures, including training and use of the EMR system.
  • Represents the Corner’s Social Work Services and programs to the community, through partnerships, and on local committees and boards.
  • Demonstrates effective communication with clients, staff, and other disciplines.
  • Ensures that the voices of young people in our community are reflected in all Social Work programs and services.
  • Guarantees that all Social Work Services are provided in accordance with the MDHHS CAHC Minimum Program Requirements and grant guidelines.
  • Commitment to the agency’s mission and DEI initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work is required.
  • Full licensure and registration with the State of Michigan’s Board of Examiners of Social Workers as a Licensed Masters Social Worker (LMSW) is required.
  • 5 or more years’ experience supervising staff and/or managing Social Work-related programs and services is required.
  • Thorough knowledge of the principles of management, including program planning, staffing, and budgeting.
  • Ability to instruct, direct, and evaluate employees
  • Ability to obtain accurate social data, to record such data systematically, and to write clear, accurate, and concise reports.
  • Ability to make independent clinical judgments.
  • Ability to direct the field work training of Social Work students.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others both verbally and in writing.

Salary & Benefits:

  • Remuneration for this full-time, exempt role is expected between $75,000 – $85,000

Work Environment:

This is a patient care environment with frequent exposure to body fluids, infectious diseases, and potentially hazardous chemicals. Schedule may include occasional nights and weekends.
