Job Description

Customized Energy Solutions (CES) is seeking a Manager to lead its Retail Load Forecasting Services. This position will be part of CES’ Retail Market Services team, which delivers strategic wholesale energy market services to retail energy market participants. The successful candidate will join a small, experienced, and fast-paced team of energy professionals working to deliver best-in-class service to our clients at the epicenter of some of the industry’s most dynamic and challenging problems.

In this position, the candidate’s demonstrated subject matter expertise, and strong statistical, analytic processing, technical, communication, and interpersonal skills will enable them to (1) manage service delivery to CES clients, (2) optimize execution processes through continuous measurement and improvement, (3) support cross-functional and cross-team integration, (4) represent Load Forecasting capabilities in software development contexts, (5) cultivate strong Client relationships, and (6) support business development and sales functions. The successful candidate will be a high energy self-starter, positive team player, and proven leader who is comfortable working under deadlines and with competing priorities. Being detail oriented and a person of integrity are essential qualities for the successful candidate in this role. Representative Duties

The successful candidate will manage delivery of Load Forecasting Services, supporting in a variety of capacities. Representative duties in the position of Manager – Load Forecasting Services include the following:

  • Develop, establish, and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Develop, maintain, and iterate on dynamic models in support of the Retail Market Services team’s functional service offerings across Forecasting Services domain.
  • Lead team delivery of Retail Load forecasts in support of client market operations, risk management, and planning functions.
  • Maintain and develop metric reporting on delivery of services, performance thereof, and underlying drivers.
  • Support internal process automation efforts across Retail Market Services functions through discovery, documentation, and representation of business requirements and functional specifications within the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Further support SDLC as a business stakeholder in relevant capacities, including but not limited to definition of acceptance criteria, conditioning of test data sets and scenarios, and ownership of User Acceptance Testing process for assigned items.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally and cross-organizationally to drive process efficiencies in dependent business service offerings and workflows (EDI, Billing, Client Management, Data Warehousing, Pricing, etc).
  • Provide additional support and coordination across team functions to drive operational execution and delivery of other ad hoc projects as required.
  • Represent service offering in internal meetings and lead service specific touchpoints.

Location

The position of Manager – Load Forecasting Services will be based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. CES is currently offering a hybrid work schedule for Philadelphia-based staff which may change from time to time. Additional flexibility requirements may be discussed during the interview process.

Qualifications
  • The following experience will be required in the candidate’s successful fulfillment of responsibilities under the position of Manager – Load Forecasting Services:

  • Experience – 4+ years of proven experience in Retail Load Forecasting, or a related field. Candidates with a strong background in statistical analysis, data modeling, and forecasting methodologies will be given preference.
  • Education – A relevant college degree or equivalent experience. A graduate degree in a related field or advanced industry training is a plus and will be considered favorably.
  • Analytical Expertise – Demonstrated proficiency in statistical analysis, quantitative research methods, and data modeling. Strong familiarity with regression analysis, time series analysis, neural networks, machine learning, and other analytical techniques.
  • Subject Matter Expertise – In-depth knowledge of Retail Load Forecasting principles, concepts, and industry trends. Deep understanding of demand forecasting factors and variables within the energy sector, fluency in application of analytical/modeling techniques to support execution and scaling thereof.
  • Technical Proficiency – Fluency in relevant software tools and programming languages. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel is a must, including but not limited to familiarity with Excel analysis tools, advanced analysis/lookup functions, modeling, manipulation of large data sets, etc. Familiarity with SQL is preferred.
  • Problem-Solving – Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to approach challenges creatively, from a systems perspective, and develop innovative solutions.
  • Communication Skills – Excellent oral and written communication skills for effectively conveying complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. The ability to present insights and recommendations in a clear and concise manner is essential.
  • Leadership and Collaboration – Proven experience leading teams in projects. Ability to provide guidance, mentorship, and direction to team members. Comfortable collaborating with cross-functional and cross-organizational teams.
  • Team Player – Demonstrated Ability to work collaboratively within a broader team and contribute positively to team dynamics. Flexibility to work both independently and in group settings.
