Overview:
The Manger, Public Affairs is responsible for contributing to the development and implementation of strategies to establish Novant Health as a trusted, mission-driven, patient-centric health system and enable the success of Novant Health’s business and healthcare impact objectives. Reporting to the Sr. Director, Public Affairs, this position will manage efforts to develop and deploy public-policy focused messaging and identify and establish strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders. The Manager will work to ensure targeted audiences in government, media, and the public view Novant Health as a solutions- and action-focused health system working to achieve the best results for our patients and clinicians. The Manager will work closely with cross-department counterparts from communications, marketing, government relations, regulatory affairs, community engagement and foundation teams to develop and implement externally focused tactics that advance thought leadership priorities and ensure effective engagement and consistency of positioning, messaging, and tactics in all public venues.

Qualifications: - Education: 4 Year / Bachelors Degree, required. Graduate Degree, preferred.
- Experience: 5 years Experience in government affairs, political or issue campaigns, and communications/public relations/Public Affairs strongly preferred.
- Additional Skills (required):
- Strong understanding of the political, legislative, and campaign arenas, including strategies for developing effective messaging and relationships.
- Understanding of traditional and new media tactics, including social media, and ability to utilize in strategy implementation.
- Demonstrated leadership and mentorship skills with the ability to create team culture that enables organization’s mission, vision and values.
- Exceptional written and oral communications skills with demonstrated ability to make the complex simple for a variety of audiences.
- Self-managed to use initiative and time management to prioritize work and deliver results.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, including management of system-wide groups in complex matters.
- Professional demeanor and presence, including the ability to maintain confidentiality.
