About the Opportunity
This is an open position with FirstEnergy Service Co., a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. [FEU]
This position is accountable for managing and directing a team that supports Transmission and Distribution Capital and O&M projects by the creation of purchase requisitions, purchase orders/change orders, and the timely and accurate processing of service entry sheets and temp docs and obtain available discounts. This position oversees the performance and ensures compliance with accounting policies and procedures, terms and conditions of the Outline Agreement, and the Notice of Invoice Discrepancy (NOID) process. It resolves issues and implements solutions with our internal and external customers while implementing the Preliminary and Detail Review process. Collaborates with Supply Chain to ensure adherence to contract terms. The position works with Transmission Forecasting team to support the development of the monthly accruals.
Responsibilities include:

  • Execute the performance management process by providing feedback and coaching on an ongoing basis and throughout the year by discussing development opportunities, performance issues, and departmental topics.
  • Manage a team that performs a wide variety of diverse activities related to purchase requisitions, purchase orders/change orders, and service entry sheets/temp docs.
  • Manage relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement across the team to better support the company.
  • Support and lead the team on developing and implementing new processes and procedures.
  • Oversee the Detail Review Notice of Invoice Discrepancy (NOID) process.
  • Work collaboratively across business units including Project Management, Program Support, Engineering, Forecasting, Supply Chain, Accounts Payable, IT, etc.
  • Support the Transmission Forecasting team with project forecasting, budgeting, journals, and accruals.
  • Demonstrate strong internal and external customer service which includes excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Analyze complex issues, develop, and implement actionable recommendations.
  • Create and analyze reports to make timely, sound decisions.
  • Support storm restoration efforts as required.

Qualifications include:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business or a related field preferred. In lieu of a college degree consideration will be given to applicants having extensive multi-disciplined technical and operational background.
  • Minimum of 5 years supervisory experience preferred.
  • Appreciation for FirstEnergy's core values and behaviors along with demonstrated experience, mindset, and strong disposition toward transparency, unassailable integrity, and trustworthiness
  • Extensive knowledge in creation of purchase requisitions, purchase orders, change orders, processing invoices utilizing the preliminary and detail review process is preferred..
  • In-depth knowledge of information systems such as Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word required; working knowledge of SAP, CREWS, PowerOn, QlikView and PowerBI required.
  • Understanding of the Notice of Invoice Discrepancy (NOID) process preferred.
  • Financial background preferred. Budget and forecasting experience preferred.
  • Strong leadership, teamwork, and organizational skills required.
  • Proven ability to make timely, accurate decisions and demonstrate sound judgment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required to enable effective interaction with both internal and external customers and the ability to communicate results of analysis and business cases.
  • Able to coach, mentor, engage, and inspire employees career development.
