ABOUT THIS ROLE

The Program and Partnerships Manager, California is a critical role at Raising a Reader that will manage programs in California by providing top-notch relationship management. Reporting to Director, Program and Affiliate Relations, this role will steward close relationships with Raising a Reader’s customers, members, or program partners.


This role is ideal for a collaborative, organized, and driven professional looking to directly influence Raising a Reader’s impact and reach in California with a current priority focus in the Greater Los Angeles Region.


This role is a full-time, exempt position. Compensation for this role is competitive and in alignment with nonprofit roles in major U.S. markets. This role is fully remote; however, candidate must reside in or near Los Angeles County.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Deliver excellent relationship management and stewardship (60%)

    • Serve as the primary liaison to prospective and current Affiliates and program partners, managing a portfolio of Affiliates in California, with an initial emphasis in the Greater Los Angeles region.

    • Coordinate and facilitate both in-person and virtual training to support customers, members, or program partners.

    • Provide ongoing support and technical assistance to customers, members, or program partners, while ensuring that RAR programming is being implemented with a high-degree of fidelity.

    • Manage the sales needs of an assigned portfolio.

    • Ensure timely and responsive customer service.

    • Serve as a program expert by being knowledgeable about program offerings, impact, and outcomes.

    • Develop and maintain accurate records using Salesforce database.

  • Community Engagement (20%)

    • Research and conduct outreach to prospective organizations, including local school districts and child-serving agencies to broaden Raising a Reader’s impact in targeted areas.

    • Provide strategic analysis support of potential growth and scale in member communities.

    • Represent Raising a Reader on local Committees and Coalitions as appropriate.

    • Coordinate and facilitate both in-person and virtual regional convenings of local customers, members and/or program partners, to promote peer-learning among the LA County network.


  • Provide general support to Program and Partnerships team (20%)

    • Provide program team support on special projects/ initiatives, as needed.

    • Support in the onboarding and training of new customers, members, or program partners, nationwide.


Other duties as assigned. Up to 10% of travel may be required.

  • Must be able to travel within Los Angeles county from site to site reliably up to 20% of the work week

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to follow appropriate processes and operational frameworks to complete necessary work

  • Ability to manage and influence up and across the organization

  • Proficiency using computers and software such as Microsoft Office, Google Suite applications, Salesforce and/or the ability to learn new technologies and software quickly

  • Strong problem solver with the ability to make quick, sound decisions and the ability to juggle multiple projects and priorities simultaneously

  • Positive, can-do attitude with a solutions-oriented mindset

  • Ability to perform independently with minimal supervision, and function effectively as a member of a national remote team, to meet organization goals

  • Experience tracking to revenue goals and targets

  • A demonstrated commitment to advancing racial and socioeconomic justice

  • Experience in early childhood development, K-12 education and/or other related field

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred and 4+ years of professional experience or equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Prior experience with strategic partnerships, business development, or affiliate management


Compensation and Location

Pay: The pay range for this position is $70,000 up to $80,000 annually, depending upon related experience. We expect this role to be paid near the $75,000 mark. New staff are rarely brought in at the top of the range to ensure internal equity and to leave room for salary growth during an employee’s tenure at Raising A Reader.

Location: White a remote position, this role must be located in or near Los Angeles County, California due to the nature of the position and travel requirements.
