Job description

As an integral part of the USC Care Medical Group Medical Staff Department, the functions of this position include the oversight and management the overall work flow for Medical Staff meetings and/or credentialing and other Medical Staff activities. Position is responsible for coordinating and facilitating the medical staff peer review process in compliance with USC Care Medical Group policy and regulatory/accrediting standards. Position is also responsible for supporting activities of Keck Community Medical Group, to include credentials committee, clinical practices committee, and peer review committee support as well as the proctoring program for USC Care Medical Group.

Essential Duties:

  • Responsible for supervising work assignments of staff.
  • Acts as lead medical staff office support and subject matter expert for Keck Community Medical Group expansion
  • Responsible for supporting the USC Care proctoring program to include monitoring and maintaining records
  • Responsible for medical staff committee meetings, as assigned.
  • Supports the USC Care, including KCMG division, peer review process to include ad hoc committees, minutes, reports to committee and maintenance of information in the credentialing database
  • Responsible as resource person, interacting with Chief Medical Officer, Chief Clinical Officer and other appropriate medical staff officers, chairs, chiefs and Administrators to facilitate communication and flow of information.
  • Responsible as a lead person for supporting the Director in complying with all regulatory requirements, medical staff deadlines and the health system Mission and Core Values.
  • Maintain current knowledge of NCQA standards for program delegation activities
  • Communicates with Director about interpretation and compliance of accreditation requirements.
  • Helps prepare institution for site visits and coordinates internal review process.
  • Participates in ongoing staff education related to regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate medical staff activities in compliance with NCQA,Joint Commission, Title 22, CMS and hospital and medical staff bylaws as well as USC Care appropriate Credentialing, Quality, and Peer Review Plans.
  • Monitors for changes in standards and adjusts practices accordingly.
  • Maintains knowledge of USC Care Quality, Credentialing, and Peer Review Plan and standards/regulations and suggests pertinent revisions
  • Maintains current knowledge of legal principles of credentialing.
  • Maintains current knowledge of State and Federal confidentiality laws affecting physician record keeping.
  • Maintains knowledge of current legal cases effecting medical Staff Services/credentialing/privileging decisions.
  • Information Technology
  • Oversees maintenance of database on all credentialed practitioners.
  • Demonstrates competency with Microsoft Office 2000 products, including Microsoft Teams
  • Use electronic mail

  • Use of MedStaff credentialing software
  • Ensures supplies/resource utilization in cost effective manner.
  • Audits invoices for accuracy.
  • Projects cooperation and Keck core values to all customer groups
  • Plans for provision of services through provision of appropriate levels of qualified, competent staff. Policies and procedures are in place to support scope of services.
  • Establishes and maintains performance improvement and quality control activities which support the department and the applicable entities.
  • Provides for orientation, training, and continuing education of staff.
  • Monitor space/resource requirements and utilization of outside resource.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications:

  • High school or equivalent
  • 3-5 years Experience as medical staff professional with committee support experience
  • Demonstrates ability to utilize effective, appropriate and diplomatic oral and written communication skills.
  • Organization/time management skills.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, planning and evaluation skills.
  • Demonstrates ability to work independently with minimal direction and supervision.
  • Leading/ guidance skills
  • Ability to work under pressure with changing priorities
  • Ability to work collaboratively and with diplomacy with senior leadership and members of the C-Suite

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Experience in Lead or Supervisory/Leadership role

Required Licenses/Certifications:

  • Medical Staff Services Certification Valid CPMSM and/or CPCS certification by the National Association of Medical Staff Service, if not certified, must obtain certification within 2 years of hire.
  • Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date. (Required within LA City only)

The annual base salary range for this position is $95,680.00 - $158,230.00.
