What You Will Achieve
You will be part of a dynamic team of experts who form Pfizer's Environment, Health & Safety division. Due to the importance of this team for Pfizer's employees and patients, the organization relies heavily on its team members' timely actions and decision-making ability.
You will be responsible for activities involved in interpreting, recommending and compliance with environmental, health and safety regulations/company policies, and also assist in planning the changes in physical facilities to meet new regulatory requirements. You will guide teams in process hazard analysis as a facilitator and technical expert. Your strong knowledge base will guide the activities for updating manuals and procedures as well as participating in audit related activities both internal and external. Your expertise in this field will be leveraged for providing input to capital projects to ensure inherently safe design.
As a Manager, you provide guidance to operational teams for managing projects. Through your comprehensive knowledge of principles, concepts and theories of the discipline, you will also work towards advancing new concepts and methodologies. You will be able to take a leadership role to facilitate agreements between different teams and help guide Pfizer policy.

How You Will Achieve It
  • Interpret, implement, and execute both external (MIOSHA, OSHA, EPA RMP) and internal Pfizer Guidelines related to Process Safety Management (PSM) requirements.
  • Provide PSM support for significant capital projects and product transfers. Assure PSM requirements are included in the design and scope of capital projects.
  • Lead comprehensive Process Hazard Analysis (PHAs) on both existing processes/facilities and capital projects.
  • Lead complex investigations and works with the area to identify effective corrective and preventive actions.
  • Conduct benchmarking with internal and external partners to support the SMEs in developing alternative solutions to complex problems.
  • Complete site self-audits and identify opportunities to improve regulatory inspection-readiness.
  • Identify and develops initiatives to improve productivity of the EHS programs and systems.
  • Works closely with SMEs to identify alternative solutions that will drive results for EHS action plans to exceed Site EHS metrics and objectives.
  • Conduct benchmarking with internal and external partners to support the SMEs in developing alternative solutions to complex problems.
  • Support development of EHS Capital Project Master Plans; identify long-term capital needs to address gaps and reduce compliance risks.

Qualifications
Must-Have
  • Applicant must have a High School Diploma (or Equivalent) and 10 years of PSM related experience.
  • OR an Associate's degree with 8 years of experience.
  • OR a Bachelor's degree with at least 5 years of experience.
  • OR a Master's with more than 3 years of experience.
  • OR a PhD with 0+ years of experience.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of OSHA PSM and EPA RMP standards.
  • Formal PHA training with experience in different PHA methodologies.
  • Prior experience in the biopharmaceutical or chemical industry.
  • Works independently to identify situations and implementing results for high-level projects.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and negotiation skills, excellent written and communication skills.
  • Excellent leadership, analysis, judgment, commensurate with position responsibilities, and levels of Pfizer and agency interaction.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.

Nice-to-Have
  • Green or Black Belt Certification.
  • Experience in using multiple investigation techniques.
  • Experience with developing dispersion modeling or engineering design.
  • HAZWOPER training and experience.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations and perform complex data analysis.
  • Self-driven, insightful.

Work Environment:
  • Typically, in an office environment but must be willing to work in the field and operating units as needed to fully analyze situations and implement solutions.

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS
  • Standard work schedule, Monday - Friday, days; may infrequently require off-shift and weekend support.
  • Required being on call.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $90,800.00 to $151,300.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer's Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 12.5% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
