The Manager of Philanthropy will be responsible for the strategic management of a comprehensive Annual Giving Program, including the coordination and oversight of supporting initiatives in the areas of development services and donor relations. The manager provides leadership for all these areas in the context of growing the Annual Giving program while supporting the greater development goals of the Foundation and Hospital.

Responsibilities

  • Delivers a coordinated matrix of communications and solicitation strategies involving email, direct mail, phone/mail, personal / patient visitation and volunteer engagement.
  • Manages fundraising programs specific to the Hospital including Employee Giving, Annual Gift Clubs, donor cultivation and stewardship programs.
  • Supports and undertakes the growth of best practices in supporting areas of gift processing, data management, and donor relations as related to the Annual Giving Program.
  • Ensures that Annual Giving Program is an enabling component of successful major and gift planning programs
  • Collaborate effectively with the entire philanthropic team to develop strategies for Annual Giving and pipeline development.
  • Lead the direct response program, partnering with our third-party agency on multi-channel acquisition and renewal strategies and campaigns. Facilitates all components of appeal execution including resource gathering, list building, and approvals.
  • Cultivate relationships with donors and maintains a portfolio of annual donors and prospects.
  • Responsible for the coordination and execution of employee campaigns, giving societies and other cultivation and stewardship initiatives.
  • Engage, cultivate and steward mid-level donors for the purpose of building stronger donor loyalty demonstrated through upgraded contribution amounts, increased donor engagement and donor retention.
  • Analyze metrics of giving, retention, acquisition, and upgrades and report on campaign results, providing recommendations for continued optimization and growth.
  • Serve as the department’s subject matter expert on Annual Giving appeals and efforts, including our digital fundraising platform.
  • Collaborate with the Manager, Donor Engagement and Communications to steward Annual Giving donors by participating in ongoing stewardship programs and assist with the creation of new stewardship initiatives to help retain and renew donors.
  • Develop effective partnerships across the health system and provides internal and external partners with appropriate data and content and ensures adherence to quality standards and timelines. Works collaboratively to advance and achieve program strategic plans and goals.
  • Research and stay up to date on trends in the field of philanthropy, Annual Giving, and higher education advancement: suggests new initiatives or improvements to enhance the Annual Giving program as they arise.
  • Able to be flexible and available to work occasional evenings and weekends as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:
  • Minimum of (3) three years in progressive fundraising experience. Demonstrated success in acquiring gifts in all facets of Annual Giving. OR (2) years’ experience in sales, marketing or related experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field PREFERRED or a combination of education and/or additional job-related experience may be substituted in lieu of the degree.
