About Us:
The South Orange Department of Recreation & Cultural Affairs is dedicated to enriching the lives of our community members by providing a diverse range of recreational, cultural, and educational opportunities. We are seeking a proactive and responsible Manager on Duty to oversee the operations of the Baird Community Center during evening and weekend hours, ensuring a safe, welcoming, and smoothly run environment for all visitors.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary point of contact and decision-maker during evening and weekend shifts at the Baird Community Center.
- Supervise facility staff and manage their tasks, including event setups, maintenance, and customer service.
- Ensure that all scheduled programs, events, and activities run smoothly and according to plan.
- Address any facility-related issues, including maintenance needs, equipment malfunctions, and safety concerns.
- Assist with handling emergencies, incidents, and customer inquiries professionally and effectively.
- Monitor facility access and enforce building rules and regulations to ensure a secure and enjoyable environment..
- Maintain accurate records of incidents, maintenance requests, and facility usage.
- Prepare reports on daily operations and provide feedback to the department for continuous improvement.
- Uphold a positive and customer-focused attitude, setting an example for the staff and promoting a welcoming atmosphere.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in facility management, customer service, or a related field.
- Strong organizational and leadership skills with the ability to make decisions independently.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to handle emergency situations calmly and effectively.
- Proficiency in basic computer software for record-keeping and communication.
- Flexible schedule with availability to work evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays.
- Physical ability to perform tasks such as lifting, moving equipment, and standing for extended periods.
