Who You Are:Figure8 is seeking a Manager of Show Experience and Development who will assist in the development of exhibitions and non-traditional visitor experiences that are in-real-life. This individual will be involved in working within the Design team from the earliest phases of concept development, all the way to operational hand off. Through scripting, writing, developing and organizing the Show’s experience, quality and implementation, this individual will own the “how” of our experiences. You will set the stage for our on the floor team members and ensure that our guests are delivered an experience with a clear narrative and direction. You will develop the show in partnership with our Design team and ensure its integrity upon its implementation. If building sweet world’s is your passion please join us.
Your Day-to-Day:- Work within our Design team structure at the beginning of concept development to script and write the outline of the guest’s experience
- Create the guidelines and standards for our in unit team members, what they will say, do, wear and what characters they might be while “on stage”
- Develop the “how” of our exhibits and our experiences, “how will this activation work”, “how will the guest know where they are or what they are doing”
- Develop the copy and create the phrasing, tonality and “voice” of our experiences and directions for our guests
- Organizational mindset and the ability to write, script and draft a guest’s experience from start to finish.
- Experience implementing show standards and practices to performers and can clearly communicate a vision of the “character” for the experience
- Responsible for directing guest facing personnel in not only show and character development but also best practices in branded and themed guest relations.
- Cultivate and lead a culture that promotes a professional, collaborative, inspiring, fun and teamwork-driven work setting for all Team Members.
- Oversee and manage the daily functions and Developmentof Show Quality and Direction, including managing staff and process/procedures as well as providing necessary support for the operations. This includes providing notes and feedback on team member performance, overall set/show appearance (including props and scenic), training and any other components of Show quality.
- Lead and develop Show Quality to ensure consistency, quantity and quality of performance feedback for all performers/elements.
- Assist in hiring, training and Development of staff.
- Work with other department Managers to develop and implement action plans for the department's future success for team member satisfaction (TSAT) and guest satisfaction (GSAT).
- Work closely and efficiently with other operating departments, assisting with any and all employee and/or guest situations.
- Create, implement and update/maintain a note tracking system to capture and track all performer notes.
- Required to be flexible with travel and working out of sites for periods of time.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
The salary range for this role is $100,000 - $120,000 USD dependent on location and experience.
Requirements
- A BFA or 5+ years working in themed entertainment is preferred.
- Minimum 3+ years in a live entertainment or theatrical environment.
- Managerial or supervisory experience of departments and personnel.
- Prior directorial, teaching or training experience preferred.
- Must be available to work on weekends, holidays and nights as required.
- Able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and traveling to multiple venues throughout the day.
- Ability to read, interpret and follow documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and union contracts.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and training documentation. PowerPoint presentation experience is a plus.
- Ability to effectively deliver performance notes and answer questions in one-on-one and group settings.
- Strong interpersonal and analytical skills.
- Strong time management skills.
- Ability to partner across business units.
- Demonstrates ability to work independently under pressure; proactive thinker/self-starter.
