We are recruiting a Manager of Pharmacy Operations to join our team of health care professionals. As Manager of Pharmacy Operations, you will oversee Ardon’s team of clinical pharmacists and provide leadership and guidance to pharmacy personnel including pharmacy technicians and support staff. This position oversees departmental performance to ensure provision of high-quality services with accuracy, efficiency, and compassion. This role also supports operational process design, implementation, and day-to-day compliance. The Manager of Pharmacy Operations possesses a strong understanding of regulatory requirements and demonstrates commitment to quality assurance and continuous improvement.

Position responsibilities:
  1. Oversees clinical pharmacist team and assigned technician teams. Provides leadership and guidance in alignment wit hte organization's mission and values to pharmacy personnel including pharmacy technicians and support staff. ​​​​​​
  2. Oversees day-to-day department operations and workflow.
  3. Maintains patient safety as the top priority.
  4. Creates and maintains staff schedule to optimize resources and ensure appropriate scheduling to address business needs.
  5. Develops and monitors department metrics and key performance indicators.
  6. Directs, coaches, and inspires staff to ensure provision of high-quality services while promoting employee growth and engagement.
  7. Assists in development of effective and efficient operational processes to support quality improvement, accreditation standards, and company initiatives.
  8. Supports Pharmacist-In-Charge to ensure operational adherence to all applicable state, federal, and local laws, as well as company policies and procedures.
  9. Participates in pharmacy regulatory review to evaluate impact and ensure compliance. Drafts comments to regulatory agencies when needed.
  10. Obtains certifications and pharmacist licensure in additional states as requested to meet business needs.
  11. Demonstrates strong understanding of clinical pharmacist responsibilities including but not limited to patient counseling and prescription verification, supporting these duties as necessary.
  12. Supports tracking, documentation, and investigation of errors and implements process improvements for prevention.
  13. Demonstrates dedication to enhancing patient care and optimizing therapeutic outcomes.
  14. Supports security of Pharmacy and proper medication storage.
  15. Directs response to medication access issues, such as medication backorders, shortages, and courier delays to minimize patient impact while maintaining mindfulness of company resources.
  16. Provides pharmacist oversight of inventory and receiving processes.
  17. Acts as subject matter expert (SME) for Ardon’s core pharmacy applications, working closely with Business Systems Analysts to improve core system functionality, test releases, and guide clinical analysis of system issues.
  18. Supports recruitment, hiring, and training of clinical pharmacists and pharmacy personnel as appropriate.
  19. Maintains relationships with targeted Colleges of Pharmacy and technician training programs to coordinate Ardon’s internship program.
  20. Actively participates in the pharmacist residency program.
  21. Stays knowledgeable of current clinical topics, industry practice standards, and accreditation standards, and incorporates them into daily practice.
  22. Acts as a resource and consultant to physicians, referral sources, and patients regarding potential adverse reactions, interactions, and proper use and administration of drugs dispensed.
  23. Actively participates as member of Ardon’s Quality Assurance Committee (QAC) and all other committees as appointed.
  24. Maintains active Oregon license. Informs supervisor within 1 business day (and Oregon Board of Pharmacy within 10 days) of any arrests, convictions, suspected or known violations of law, or any other conduct that might affect or has affected license status. Reports to Oregon Board of Pharmacy within 15 days any changes to name, residence address, or employment.
  25. Notifies supervisor within 1 business day of any changes to pharmacist licensure status in any other state where a pharmacist license is held.
  26. Actively participates and provides support as needed to leadership and quality program staff to ensure activities related to the company’s quality management program and quality improvement activities maintain priority focus and are effectively executed. This may include but is not limited to activities that promote objective and systematic measurement, monitoring, and evaluation of services and defined Quality Improvement Projects (QIPs) that may result from such efforts.
  27. Complies with the company’s Human Resources policies, Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct, and all department policies and procedures, including protecting confidential company, employee, and customer information; attending work punctually and regularly; and adhering to good safety practices in all activities.
  28. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requiredskills/credentials:
1. Education/Experience
a. Required
  • Degree from college of Pharmacy
  • Active Oregon Pharmacist License
b. Preferred
  • ​​​Two or more years’ experience in pharmacy management
  • One or more years’ experience working in a specialty pharmacy
  • Certification in Specialty Pharmacy
  • Exemplary leadership skills and ability to inspire teams toward a shared vision
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience developing and implementing plans in the areas of quality management, clinical outcomes, and regulatory affairs
  • Proficiency in standard workplace software and/or information management applications
2. Physical and mental functions and activities
  • Must have excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must be able to express oneself, detect, perceive, observe, and assess information exchanged in a variety of communication methods.
  • Must be able to demonstrate proficiency with computer applications.
  • Must be able to work independently as well as part of a team.
3. Working conditions
  • Work is performed primarily at a desk, with extensive keyboard and telephone work in a stationary position.
  • Business needs may occasionally require work in excess of 40 hours per week, including work outside of the standard work week.
4. Contact with others:
  • Internally with Ardon employees across multiple departments.
  • Externally with providers, payers, and plans.

  • Knowledge of Pharmacy benefit investigation, prior authorization support, and patient financial assistance connection.
  • Prior experience working with physicians, nurses, or other healthcare professionals.
