GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Responsible for the development, productivity, and performance of Licensed Financial Advisor production activities in an innovative manner. Manages, coaches, mentors a professional production team and provides leadership that results in the achievement of optimal productivity and performance of the Investment Services Program based on industry best practices associated within the financial institution non-deposit investment channel. Direct reports include licensed Advisor production staff.
TASKS, DUTIES, FUNCTIONS:
- Recruit staff as necessary to maintain full staffing per budgeted productivity and performance goals.
- Assist with the development of the annual department budget, including revenues from the sale of non- deposit investments, collaboratively develop and implement effective tactics to enhance member penetration and non-interest fee income.
- Develop and implement productivity expectations/goals for staff. Provide coaching, guidance and mentoring to staff not meeting his/her/their respective expectations/goals. Hold staff accountable for meeting their performance goals using appropriate best practice methodologies.
- Foster a positive and engaging work environment for each team member by promoting skills development, coaching for improvement and growth, inspiring others through your words and actions, ensuring positive employee morale throughout Golden 1, and embracing our mission, vision and core values.
- Proactively monitors Advisor productivity and provide appropriate coaching, mentoring or practice management guidance and support as needed.
- Participate in the development and implementation of appropriate marketing initiatives, including all processes, tasks & responsibilities of all stakeholders, that are compliant and in line with Golden 1's branding guidelines.
- Ensure that the Program's production staff are maintain compliance with all laws, rules, regulations, policies & procedures, governance and guidelines from all appropriate regulatory bodies, state and federal agencies and entities, Golden 1 Credit Union, the Program's contracted third party FINRA broker/dealer and affiliated Insurance agency, and vendors.
- Ensures that Advisors successfully complete all required Continuing Education (CE) for required licenses, broker/dealer Firm Element requirements, Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), and all other related and appropriate training, examinations, etc. to include required Golden 1 compliance training.
- Assist in the preparation and appropriate presentations at staff meetings on a regularly scheduled basis to communicate updates (including the Credit Union, its Divisions or Departments, or staff), policy, guideline and procedural changes, compliance items, operational items, etc.
- Champion a service first culture that emphasizes the value of holistic planning and advice driven relationships with our member-clients.
- Develop and maintain an understanding of the pertinent regulatory requirements and risks inherent to job responsibilities, establish, and maintain control activities that mitigate those risks consistent with the Credit Union's risk appetite, and ensure operational integrity and compliance with applicable regulations.

PHYSICAL SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND EXERTION UTILIZED IN THE PERFORMANCE OF THESE TASKS:
- Effective oral and written communication skills required to manage and evaluate staff, make presentations, prepare recommendations, perform analysis, and accomplish other managerial functions as listed.
- Must possess sufficient manual dexterity to skillfully operate an on-line computer terminal and other standard office equipment, such as financial calculators, personal computer, facsimile machine and telephone.
ORGANIZATIONAL CONTACTS & RELATIONSHIPS:
- INTERNAL: Management and all levels of staff.
- EXTERNAL: Credit Union members, vendors, auditors, service providers, regulatory entities, the general public, and other business-related relationships that may arise.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience in the Investment Services and insurance industries. Accredited industry recognized professional designation/certification such as a Certified Financial Planner (CFP), Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC), Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Certified Life Underwriter (CLU), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), etc. desired.
- EXPERIENCE: Minimum five years of prior Program Management experience in the investment and insurance services industry with a minimum of three years direct supervisory experience managing such Programs within a banking-type financial institution environment. Experience in the development, implementation, and management of Estate Planning and Asset Management programs are pluses. Must have conducted product and vendor Analysis, due diligence, and presented such in detailed written documentation.
- KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS: Must possess and consistency demonstrate strong, effective, capable leadership skills. Strong computer skills including the effective operation of Microsoft Office software to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. The ability and experience to effectively use Microsoft Access is a plus. The ability and experience to use Adobe Acrobat software, in particular to read and edit a PDF document is required. Knowledgeable in all aspects of securities and insurance "back-office" and "front-office" operations to include broker/dealer and insurance agency operations, compliance, all classes of investment/insurance products & services, marketing and advertising from a compliance standpoint, training, recruitment, member/client service, professional development of staff, public speaking, and office administration. Additionally, polished professional oral and written communications skills developed to a very high degree are required skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Prolonged sitting throughout the workday with occasional mobility required.
- Corrected vision within the normal range.
- Hearing within normal range. A device to enhance hearing will be provided if needed.
- Occasional movements throughout the department daily to interact with staff, accomplish tasks, etc.
- Minimal travel by car and/or public conveyance. May include overnight scheduling. Unusually long work hours may be required to accomplish tasks.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:
- Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) Series 7, 63, 65 (or 66 in lieu of a 63 and 65) licenses.
- California State Department of Insurance Life Agent license (including the certifications to solicit and sell annuities and long term care insurance), and Variable Contract license. All FINRA licenses must be current and registerable with the broker/dealer. Insurance licenses must currently be available for insurance agency and/or insurance carrier appointments. Other FINRA or Insurance licenses may be pluses depending on the licenses.
