In support of our mission, we are seeking a Manager, Influencer & Advocacy to join our Marketing team. This role reports into the Director of Social and Community as a part of the Brand Marketing team. 

Want to help us transform the travel experience? The ideal candidate will cultivate and nurture a diverse influencer community of tastemakers, culture-drivers, and creators who are passionate about travel. You’ll drive the strategy and vision for influencer marketing with the Director of Social and Community, owning the planning, programming, and execution. This role will also bridge organic and paid social, building a cohesive owned and earned approach designed to grow our cultural awareness, engage consumers, and impact sales. You possess an in-depth understanding of the influencer landscape and have a POV on what strong social- and influencer-first content embodies.

The Manager of Influencer and Advocacy role will be based in our New York City office with in-office attendance required twice weekly.

What you’ll do as the Manager, Influencer & Advocacy:
  • Build and maintain meaningful relationships across our community of influencers — grow the Away community by sourcing, evaluating, developing, and retaining advocates

  • Identify up and coming talent with a finger on the pulse of pop culture, travel, and the social landscape 

  • Champion diversity of talent throughout our influencer network

  • Accelerate brand and audience growth through influencer-first social and digital campaigns 

  • Architect an organic and paid influencer marketing strategy — inclusive of tentpole brand moments, always-on evergreen content, product launches, and retail/IRL/experiential activations 

  • Create influencer guidelines, toolkits, and briefs in partnership with brand, social, and creative to support on-brand content development

  • Develop an internal advocacy program in partnership with the Director of Social and Community, and Director of Internal Comms

  • Partner with organic social, growth, partnerships, retail, PR, and brand teams to ideate and manage content distribution that ladders up to our marketing objectives 

  • Support PR on VIP and celebrity programming as well as identifying emerging talent, and building those relationships on behalf of the brand 

  • Stay at the forefront of cultural, competitive, and industry trends

  • Define and manage influencer marketing KPIs — ensure we are meeting them and adjusting as needed. Push the rigor around understanding the impact that advocacy marketing can have within both organic and paid

Who you are:
  • Minimum 4 years of direct experience helping to build, operate, and scale an influencer marketing function 

  • Experience in social media marketing, community management, and/or communications required 

  • Demonstrated knowledge of emerging and diverse talent, trends, and a pulse on what’s relevant in culture today 

  • A deep understanding of social platforms, the broader digital landscape, and the unique strategies, audiences, and nuances across each

  • Experience with community analytics, data management, and tracking tools 

  • Working understanding of affiliate marketing and how it works hand-in-hand with influencer marketing

  • Your written and oral communication skills are on point. You are persuasive, a strong-yet-diplomatic negotiator, and are comfortable communicating on behalf of an established brand 

  • Highly collaborative — you love to work as a team to solve problems, but can thrive when faced with an individual task 

  • Possess an elevated taste level and strong aesthetic judgment; you can convey and execute a vision while maintaining and elevating brand standards 

  • You define your path — strategic thinking and problem solving is where you thrive, and you’re not afraid to build from the ground up with no playbook 

  • A change agent — in a rapidly evolving landscape, you’re excited to grow and fail fast. You learn from what’s worked, and have a POV on what needs to be done differently in the future

  • Proven track record of negotiating contracts and deals with micro influencers to VIPs, with the assistance of an agency or supportive legal team 

  • Team player with a “no task is too small” attitude

  • Enjoys working in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment

  • Passionate about transforming travel (but that’s a given!)

Compensation Package:

Our salary ranges are based on paying competitively for our size and industry, and are one part of our total rewards program that also includes benefits, bonus, equity and various social and professional investment opportunities at Away. Pay decisions are based on a number of factors, including scope and qualifications for the role, experience level, skillset, and balancing internal equity relative to other Away employees. We expect the majority of the candidates who are offered roles at Away to fall healthily within the range based on these factors.

  • Salary Range: $105,000.00-$110,000.00 annually

  • This role is eligible to participate in Away’s Annual Company Performance Bonus Plan, the terms of which are determined on an annual basis at the discretion of the company

  • Equity Grant: commensurate with level determined at the discretion of the company
