STORE MANAGER IN TRAINING
The Store Manager is responsible for meeting customer needs, including serving the customer in person at the counter or on the telephone, providing information on equipment or product availability, pricing, terms, and service. They handle reservations, contracts, questions, sales transactions, and order adjustments. They also are responsible for managing the fleet at their store, taking steps to keep their full fleet rental ready. They handle part/supply ordering, transfers for repair/inventory purposes, and inventory management. Lastly, they are responsible for employee management at their store. They handle training, daily task management, and other steps to improve employee performance.
The position requires constant interaction with the public and employees. Most work is completed in an office setting with occasional warehouse/outdoor tasks. Multi-tasking occurs, such as simultaneously managing incoming phone calls and in-person customers. Moderate lifting and walking, bending, pushing, and transporting objects of various weights and dimensions is sometimes required. Chemicals, including gasoline, diesel, propane, and cleaning solvents are sometimes encountered in this position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Give a professional, friendly prompt customer greeting as they enter the store or call.
- Recommend product or service to fit customer need. Instruct on safe and proper use.
- Create the contract, document safety instructions with customer, and follow payment policies.
- Address missing or damaged items with customer at time of return.
- Update and call customers who are overdue.
- Order parts as needed to repair equipment. Transfer bigger repairs to the shop.
- Order resale items as needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized work area.
- Maintain a professional appearance and follow uniform policy.
- Attend instructional meetings as required.
- Practice personal safety and report any other safety concerns to supervisor.
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, rules and regulations in written or verbal form.
- Assist other personnel as needed.
Requirements:
- Customer service skills.
- Management skills.
- Positive, willing attitude.
- Must be able to understand and complete instructions.
- High school diploma or GED is preferred but not required.
- Must pass a company drug screen.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Willingness to "get hands dirty" when needed.
