Job Description:
In this role, the individual will play a key part in executing strategic Media Relations plans to protect our reputation and advance business priorities. The individual will work collaboratively with Media Relations team members, Pharmaceutical and MedTech business sectors, and functional teams to research and prepare for top-tier media engagement while ensuring consistency with the organization's Media Relations guidelines and other relevant standard operating procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

Execute Media Strategies for the Enterprise:

• Develop an in-depth understanding of the Johnson & Johnson business priorities, and work to drive positive reputation impact through Media Relations.

• Proactively research and recommend unique earned media opportunities.

• Manage reactive media inquiries in consultation with the media leadership team.

• Strategically align press releases, news coverage, and announcements in partnership with business leaders, legal and the office of the Corporate Secretary.

Advance Media Strategy:

• Conduct reporter research and regularly update the global media lists.

• Maintain strong relationships with journalists across various media outlets.

• Assist in the regular updating of the Enterprise message map.

• Manage the JNJ.com Media Centre to ensure reporters can access the latest press releases, media statements, and media assets.

• Manage the Internal SharePoint site for Media Relations to ensure communication colleagues can access all the tools and resources to execute Media Relations.

• Develop and edit media materials and draft media briefing materials in support of executive interviews.

Stay Attuned/Adapt to Industry Trends :

• Maintain a strong understanding of current industry, media and societal trends impacting the business and share insights with the leadership team to inform communication strategies.

• Analyze media coverage and measure the effectiveness of Media Relations campaigns.

• Prepare regular media coverage reports.

Qualifications

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree is required with a preference of study in the areas of Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, or closely related field
  

Experience and Skills:

Required :

• A minimum of 6+ years of professional experience working in a communications or Media Relations role is required.

• Successful track record researching information for inclusion in strategic media plans.

• Successful track record editing communication materials and developing briefing books and messaging.

• Experience working with senior-level executives and journalists.

• Strong familiarity with media analysis and monitoring tools.

• Deep understanding of the intersection of earned, owned and paid media.

• Strong presentation skills.

• Strong organization and project management skills

• Passion for media and consuming news, in all forms, through a variety of channels.

• Team player who thrives in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.

• Resourceful professional who navigates ambiguity to develop solutions.

• Values accountability for the quality of their work.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is $99,000 to $167,200. The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/ performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.
