We have an outstanding opportunity for a Manager, Enterprise Risk Management and Support Services to be responsible for overall and day-to-day management of the University's Enterprise Risk Management program and related activities. In addition, the Manager contributes to the development and execution of strategic and operational goals of Compliance and Risk Services, the Executive Compliance & Risk Officer, the Executive Director of Risk Management, and the Executive Director of Compliance Services.
This position will provide institution-wide leadership, management and coordination of Enterprise Risk Management, including facilitating the engagement of the Board of Regents and Regental Committees, Risk Management Executive Group, Risk Management Committee and ERM projects working groups. This position leads collaborative and coordinated efforts to identify ENTERPRISE RISKs, develop action plans for addressing, reducing, or otherwise mitigating selected top risks, and reporting outcomes to leadership.
The Manager's work is aligned with the University's mission and values, assisting senior, executive and governing-body leaders with understanding and addressing institutional risk. The ERM Program Manager must manage the Enterprise Risk Management program effectively and is broadly responsible for the success of the program and related programmatic tasks such as periodic institutional risk assessments, updating a risk register, and for identifying and supporting projects. The Manager works in collaboration with senior leaders and subject matter experts.
Duties & Responsibilities
Strategic leadership and operational management of the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) program (70%)
• Lead and manage University efforts to identify and assess risks, develop and implement risk mitigation efforts, and monitor and review outcomes for the ERM program
• Provide project management for ERM projects, including developing detailed timelines, tracking deliverables, coordinating key stakeholder involvement, and communications
• Plan for, coordinate, facilitate, and present at meetings related to ERM program across enterprise (ranging from planning sessions to presentations to the Board of Regents)
• Coordinate ERM reporting efforts, including data synthesis, formatting, branding, design, publishing, and communications. Reporting may include regular or periodic reporting as a part of ongoing, program-level data tracking or as a product of work group or committee deliverables. Key reporting includes an annual report to the Board of Regents and regular reporting to the Risk Management Committee.
• Serve a primary staff lead and support for Risk Management Committee, including agenda and presentation preparation and meeting organization
• Conduct periodic risk assessments with senior and executive leaders, and the Board of Regents
• Develop and refine appropriate metrics for assessment of the ERM program, and the projects and initiatives it launches
• Facilitate continuous improvement and evolution of ERM program processes and functions with key stakeholders
• Build, implement, and sustain communication and engagement plans for ERM stakeholders and process partners
• Perform data management activities, including documenting risk mitigation activities within ERM program and additional mitigation efforts to address other risks across University units
• Steward University policies related to ENTERPRISE RISK and RISK MANAGEMENT, including policy creation and revision
• Partner with key RISK MANAGEMENT programs and related functions across the University's campuses and operations, including Internal Audit
• Create and update Enterprise Risk Management website content
• Develop, retain, and revise PowerPoint presentations for various audiences to communicate historical, present, and projected future activities of the ERM program and risk topic projects
• Contribute to the development and execution of strategic and operational goals of the Executive Compliance & Risk Officer, in the role of Chair, Risk Management Committee and related groups
• Complete additional duties as assigned by Executive Director, Risk Management and Executive Director, Compliance Services
Manage and coordinate other Risk Management initiatives and functions (30%)
• Oversee a broad range of activities across Risk Management including, but not limited to project strategy development, project coordination, research and analysis tasks, ensuring high-quality team deliverables and outcomes
• Coordinate streamlined flows of information and data on Risk Management projects and initiatives
• Lead and/or coordinate Risk Management meetings with appropriate process partners and subject matter experts to address urgent, emerging, or ongoing issues
• Draft, finalize, and distribute strategic internal Risk Management communications
• Create and update Risk Management website content
• Develop, retain, and revise PowerPoint presentations for various audiences about Risk Management programs
• Facilitate meeting preparation for Risk Management programs
• Other responsibilities as applicable to Compliance and Risk Services' business needs.
Requirements include:
• Bachelor's degree, preferably in Business, Finance, Accounting, Project Management, Organizational Leadership or related field.
• 6 years accumulated professional experience.
• Experience in project management; program facilitation; continuous process improvement; RISK MANAGEMENT and/or ENTERPRISE RISK MANAGEMENT
• Demonstrated leadership skills and experience managing multi-year projects, building collaborative partnerships, and facilitating the work of others without explicit supervisory authority
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to present compelling and persuasive data capturing broad concepts to University leaders
• Proven experience with utilizing process improvement tools to understand complex problems and develop solutions.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
Desired:
• Project management certification (PMP, PMI-RMP)
• Demonstrated project management experience in RISK MANAGEMENT in higher education
