Under the supervision of the Division Manager, Facilities Management and Planning, manages the department personnel assigned to the Engineering team and is responsible for the coordination of necessary work to ensure effective and efficient operation and maintenance of all power plant equipment, building mechanical equipment, automation, telecommunications and security systems.

- Supervise FT and PT employees assigned to HVAC systems and controls, building automation, fire alarm systems, and basic elevator operation, computer skills, and electrical knowedge, and in-house maintenance.
- Set and monitor work assignments. Monitor performance and implement changes to improve effectiveness and efficiency.
- Plan, implement, and administer a predictive and preventative maintenance program to provide maximum life to building systems and reliability necessary to support the mission of Moody Bible Institute.
- Directs and assists in the operation and repair of power plant equipment, ventilation, air-conditioning equipment, boilers, heating systems, centrifugal chillers, refrigeration equipment, pumps, compressors and other building mechanical equipment, elevators, plumbing systems, electrical, swimming pool maintainance, and Food Service equipment.
- Provide detailed administration of attendance, punctuality, use of sick leave, payroll, overtime records, employee evaluations, discipline, etc.
- Completes or supervises the emergency repairs and adjustments to the building equipment and systems.
- Collaborates with architects, consulting engineers, and others in the development of building system design or modification.
- Maintains operating and maintenance records through a computerized system to track and document the preventative and predictive maintenance program.
- Develop, maintain, and modify as required a short and long-term maintenance Capital Improvement Plan, putting together proposals.
- Ensures compliance with city and state building and safety codes, and OSHA compliance.
- Oversees the purchases, selection, use, and storage of building automation, telecom and security.
- Hires, trains, and oversees Student Engineers.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
Must have working knowledge of HVAC systems and controls, building automation, fire alarm systems, and basic elevator operation, computer skills, and electrical knowedge, and in-house maintenance.
- High school graduation or equivalent.
- Five years of experience in operating and maintaining all types of power plant and building mechanical equipment, three years of which must have been in a supervisory capacity.
- Two years minimum “hands on” experience with refrigeration and air conditioning equipment.
- Possession of valid licenses, Universal Refrigeration Certificate, and/or certificates as required by prevailing trade or practice.
- Authorized to work in the US legally, without sponsorship
Preferred Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Building Automation Technology or related field
- Possess continued education credits or certification and training in building automation systems.

This job operates primarily on the campus of a school. Work is performed both inside and outside. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. This position requires use of hand tools and equipment common to the field of building engineering maintenance.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will regularly move about the campus or job site where standing, sitting, bending, and lifting up to 50lbs will be required. This position may require work and supervision to be performed but not limited to a crawl space, shaft, roof, mechanical room, office etc.
This is a full-time position: Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week. Emergencies and Student Engineer calls will periodically come nights, weekends, and holidays.
Stateside travel may be required for this position but not frequently.
