Job Summary:
Operates as a technical leader with a high degree of knowledge in the overall field and recognized in specific areas of but not limited to, computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) support, technology assessment, value planning, administrative and technical support for high-tech medical equipment. Provides medical device engineering support to clinicians, and takes initiatives to improve patient care.
Job Requirements:
Education and Work Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in electrical engineering, computer science or biomedical engineering or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Required
- Master's Degree in electrical engineering, computer science or biomedical engineering or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred
- Five years' relevant experience: Preferred
- Experience in healthcare facility, medical device manufacturer, or other medical device-based business: Preferred
- One year leadership experience: Preferred
Licenses/Certifications:
- Certified Clinical Engineer (CCE): Preferred
Essential Functions:
- Acts as the technical leader with a high degree of knowledge in the overall field and recognized in specific areas such as problem solving, which requires a highdegree of root cause analysis, investigates incidents, reviews and approves changes to risk based medical equipment classification. Leads complex medical device projects and is associated with all phases of project management including medical device selection, project funding, submission of required forms, training and education of staff and end users of the technology. Works in cohorts involving several collaborative teams and key stakeholders including IT, nursing, OR and ED. Takes initiative and closes the project with operational support in place.
- Monitors technology and evaluates efficacy and costs/benefits of purchases and advises on medical device capital purchases. Acts as a leader for knowledge transfer to others. Mentors and help grow other team members. Possesses advanced knowledge of internal policies and external regulations related to biomedical equipment industry safety regulations and performance standards. Exhibits customer/supplier philosophy that emphasizes both internal andexternal relationships for Adventist Health.
- Supports the on-going operations of the current CMMS including, CMMS system administration and training for clinical units' administrators and clinical engineer techs. Assists with new CMMS assessment and requests for proposals including assessing the programs to be integrated with new CMMS and analyzing and designing reports for Clinical Engineering performance matrix (productivity, key performance indicators (KPIs), downtime etc.).
- Creates and distributes weekly project management compliance report, works with Clinical Engineering leadership to reach compliance number goals that are up to Joint Commission requirements. Provides a quarterly action Clinical Engineering benchmark report.
- Works with Clinical Engineering and IT leadership to address cybersecurity related to medical devices and device network. Addresses medical device related project questions and works collaboratively with related teams to accomplish departmental and organizational goals and objectives.
