Your Role at Baxter:
The Americas Accounting Center of Expertise (CoE) supports the Baxter monthly, quarterly and annual accounting close processes and has high interaction with segment and business leadership teams.
This position focuses on ensuring accurate accounting treatment, establishing and executing efficient month-end close processes, and maintaining strong internal controls and validity of established processes. Key areas of responsibility include accounting for various payrolls and fringe/other benefits, accrued liabilities (product warranty, various accrued royalties), various Corporate cost allocations, and support for the Manufacturing and Supply Chain organization accounting processes.
This position requires strong cross-functional collaboration with numerous business, commercial finance, and operational partners. Key to the success of this position is the coaching and development of the direct and indirect reports within the Costa Rica Shared Services Center (SSC).
What You'll Be Doing:
- Manage and be held accountable for the analysis and execution of the monthly, quarterly and annual accounting close processes
- Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate/timely reporting of monthly financial data, including required GAAP/management adjustments, and accounting support
- Determine the appropriate accounting treatment for certain complex transactions ensuring compliance with US GAAP and documentation for audit purposes
- Develop and standardize processes to drive consistency and ensure compliance with US GAAP policies and internal procedures
- Partner with Payroll operational teams to ensure appropriate accounting pertaining to Compensation which include Americas Payroll, MICP, Commissions, Stock Options, and other payroll-related issues
- Partner with Local Country Finance and execute required royalty liability accounting
- Partner and lead direct and indirect reports from the Costa Rica SSC to drive efficiencies and process standardization
- Support ad-hoc accounting inquiries, including those relating to Manufacturing, Planning & Fulfillment, and Inventory
- Drive process improvement initiatives for the team including analysis and identification of opportunities, implementation and monitoring post-implementation
- Manage and provide developmental coach to direct and indirect reports
What You'll Bring:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
- CPA required
- Demonstration of key accounting/finance competencies and qualifications; typically 5 plus years of relevant industry accounting experience
- Previous management / supervisory experience is preferred
- Ability to deal with ambiguity and to apply professional judgement
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP and financial analysis, including understanding of internal control requirements and relevant business environments
- Ability to balance multiple, competing priorities and to effectively escalate or resolve issues to meet deadlines
- Process improvement and process innovation experience desired
- Working knowledge of JDE and consolidation systems (ie. FCCS) preferred
- Adaptable, self-starter with strong analytical skills and decision-making capabilities
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills
- Intermediate level knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $104,000 to $143,000 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
