Your Role
• Ensures the unit and/or department has the needed supplies and equipment by maintaining unit par levels through the use of a periodic inventory management process.
• Counts inventory levels and enters these counts into a hand-held device or procures inventory by creating requisitions for necessary supplies. Follows up on purchase orders, tracks movement of supplies and documents any return or receipt of supplies through the appropriate inventory system as required. Manages data input for inventory control in the information system.
• Assesses and identifies areas for process improvement as it relates to supply management. Works with the ED Director, Materials Management and/or a multidisciplinary team to establish action plans based upon data collection; then acts upon plan to achieve necessary outcome.
• Collaborates with Materials Management and Campus ED Leadership to maintain a list of standardized equipment with their end-of life dates. Develops and maintains an applicable replacement schedule.
• Coordinates trials of any supplies or proposed equipment (pre-approved) while working closely with vendors and our Clinical Resource Team. Works with the supporting campus to locate similar equipment in order to meet any equipment needs.
• Works closely with leadership on capital equipment budgetary needs. Provides equipment master list and the replacement schedule for budgetary planning or for replacement.
• Takes the initiative in maintaining high standards and quality in the facilitation of cost savings and containment.
Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED :
• Ability to communicate by reading, writing legibly, speaking and comprehending English effectively to carry out job requirements
• Strong planning, time management and organizational skills
• Working knowledge with computers that include Outlook, Excel, ERP, and hand-held devices
• Ability to manage stress and handle challenging situations and personalities
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS PREFERRED:
• Current knowledge of medical terminology or completion of hospital approved course
• Knowledge of supply chain methodologies, which include inventory control concepts
• Knowledge of professional emergency preparedness and equipment
• Advanced computer skills with Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook
• Ability to apply leadership principles and be self-directed
• Skills in creativity and initiative
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED :
• High school graduate or G.E.D. equivalent
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
• Previous material management or hospital supply experience
• Previous lead experience
• Three years of emergency medical services/ED tech experience OR
• Two years of healthcare clinical project coordination experience
• Experience in coordinating the opening of a new clinical area
• Experience with supply and equipment management
