Maintenance/Custodian

Basic Function:

The Church Custodian has the responsibility for the appearance, maintenance, and security of the building and grounds, as well as the overall cleanliness of The Faith Center.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the maintenance of the church building, grounds, & equipment.
• Open and close the building (Sunday & Wednesday Services, meetings & events)
• Secure the building throughout the week
• Remove and discard any fallen trees or prongs on property
• Responsible for all maintenance service and repairs pertaining to building and related equipment.
• Implements all maintenance and general oversight of materials and parts, schedules installations and oversees that such repairs are accomplished in a safe and timely manner.

• Take preventative measures for equipment and building maintenance.

• Check and change filters in all A/C units.
• Change light box poster outdated in lobby
• Monitor and do not store items in kitchen
• Clean up around both loading docks.
• Hurricane preparedness- secure building, remove items outside to be blown away, provide plastic bags to cover electronics, computer equipment to left on floor.
• Develops and implements cleaning, maintenance and remodeling plans.
• Manages utilities and building security, including keys
• Responsible for coordinating the room and equipment set up for all church functions
• Provide assistance & direction to contractors onsite.
• Maintains supplies for cleaning, maintaining and repairing buildings/grounds
• Attend weekly meetings with Supervisor as deem necessary
• Participate with safety trainings.

Qualifications:

• Considerable knowledge and experience of air conditioning systems, electrical systems, building and grounds maintenance and equipment repair.
• Ability and understanding of various Federal, State and County codes and regulations involving construction, installation, fire, safety and sanitation.

Position Requirements:

• High School Diploma.
• At least 3 to 5 years of supervision in the operation of a commercial or institutional facility.

Work Schedule:

Because the Faith Center operates daily and is focused on visitor and program needs, some evening and weekend hours may be required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $23.00 - $26.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 80 per week
