Position Description
Job Title: Maintenance Worker
FLSA: Non-Exempt
Job Status: Part Time/ $16 per hour.
Reporting Functions: Reports to the Pastor, Business Manager & Office Secretary
Job Function: To provide both custodial and maintenance work for parish properties and equipment. Duties include but are not limited to general maintenance, trash removal, vacuuming and mopping, grounds maintenance, security checks, and various repairs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assisting in the daily functioning of the Church, Parish Center, and School, which includes tasks delegated by the Pastor, the Business Manager & the Office Secretary.
- Assure that Parish and Parish buildings are maintained in a clean and orderly manner. This includes cleaning, and de-cluttering the Church, Parish Center, 3 Car Garage & Pole Barn.
- Actively moving items between Parish buildings. Maintain stored items to make them accessible for other staff members.
- Assist the Parish Center Administrator in the setup and cleanup of all functions, which includes moving and setup/cleanup of tables, chairs, tablecloths, etc.
- Procuring supplies when necessary.
- Regular building maintenance - light bulbs, inspecting, monitoring, and repairing systems, filters, stocking supplies, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping as needed, breakdown and disposal of garbage.
- Property Maintenance as required by the Pastor, Business Manager & and Office Secretary.
- Completion of special projects as assigned by the Pastor, Business Manager & Office Secretary.
- Clean up outside of the normal daily operations.
Educational Requirements:
- High School Diploma.
- Experience in maintenance and cleaning custodial duties.
Other Requirements:
- Due to the nature and mission of the Catholic Church, all employees are bound to exhibit respect for the teachings and discipline of the Church regarding matters of faith and morals.
- All safe environment checks and/or clearances must be in place prior to employment.
Skills, Knowledge, and/or Abilities:
- Must exhibit a high degree of integrity, loyalty, and dependability and have a strong work ethic.
- Knowledge of grounds, building tools, and equipment operations and possess the ability to perform repairs to minor equipment.
- Ability to work independently and demonstrate competence in all areas of responsibility.
- Ability to collaborate and coordinate with Church volunteers on special maintenance projects.
- Must be self-motivated and prompt in performing tasks.
- Must have a current, valid Pennsylvania Operator's License as a means of transportation to and from work.
Not Required but Preferred Skills:
- Skill in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and landscaping.
- Ability to climb high ladders and operate a lift.
- Experienced, licensed, and qualified to operate on-site machinery.

Physical Conditions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, climb, and descend ladders, and stoop; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee must have full range of body motion, including bending at the waist and full use of lower extremities and back muscles. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds such as furniture, cleaning equipment, chemical containers, etc. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is required to hear conversations in quiet and noisy environments.
Working Conditions: Indoor and outdoor; the employee is occasionally exposed to adverse weather conditions. Part-time position; 20 hours per week, 4-hour day shifts Monday through Friday.
