Description
Mercy Home for Children a nonprofit organization that works with the intellectual & developmental disabled population is hiring for a Skilled Maintenance Worker to handle one of the residences in Rosedale Queens.
Position Responsibilities are the following:
• Provide assistance in making repairs to residences and Main Agency including carpentry, plumbing, and minor electrical work, painting, etc.
• Upon receipt of a maintenance request, visit residence to determine the nature of work, the time needed to complete the job, and if the job is to be done by outside contractors,. report findings to Director of Facilities.
• Works in conjunction with the Director of Facilities to develop a systematic work routine striving to economize with materials, time and labor.
• In conjunction with the Facilities Director, consult with the Residence Manager and Residence Maintenance worker, when needed, for problem-solving or repairs at the residence.
• Perform routine maintenance duties, as well as flood cleanup/snow removal at residences as required.
• Respond to emergency maintenance needs at the residence, which require handling off hour emergencies.
• Other tasks relating to maintenance as assigned.
• Ensures environmental safety for the protection of the residences.
• Develop job-related knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• Develop effective team relationships with Support Units.
• Become thoroughly familiar with physical services, agency standards, policies, and procedures

This Full-time position (37.5 hours per week) will provide 1199 Union Benefits and ample paid time off.
Requirements
Role Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED and 2 years experience in maintenance work preferred; some knowledge of carpentry, tiling, plumbing Electrical repair, boiler maintenance required; Valid and Unrestricted NYS Driver's License.
Must show proof of COVID vaccine card & background check is required.
Salary Description
$23.00 per hour
