The City of Groveport, Ohio, is central Ohio's small town. Groveport is a growing City in southeastern Franklin County. We are looking for a Maintenance Worker to join our team and work closely with the Public Service Department. PURPOSE:
Under general supervision, perform various types of semi-skilled and skilled work and operate equipment involved in the repair and maintenance of streets, curbs, gutters, sidewalks, storm drains, traffic signals and traffic signs; snow and ice control and fleet maintenance; assists with other types of work as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
Completion of secondary education or equivalent; one (1) to two (2) years of related experience in infrastructure maintenance in a public office preferred; or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities; must be able to be on-call 24 hours.
LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess the ability to obtain first aid/CPR certification no later than first available training session after hire; must possess a valid Ohio CDL-A license with Air Brakes and Tanker endorsement within 12 months of hire and maintain insurability under the Municipality's vehicle insurance policy; various licenses through the Ohio Department of Agriculture (e.g., industrial vegetation, mosquito and other vector) as may be required to perform essential functions.

Automobile, light and heavy motorized equipment, snowplow, tractor, utility vehicle, skid steer, backhoe, loader, push mower, riding mower, post hole auger, concrete mixer, string trimmer, saw, rototiller, salt spreader, pesticide sprayer, power broom, hand and power tools, motor vehicles used for maintenance and/or construction projects, vehicle lift, power washer, , cellular phone, personal computer, computer software, printer, copy machine, and other standard business office equipment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION: For purposes of 42 USC 12101:
60% (1) Performs a variety semi-skilled activities, including but not limited to: operate a variety of light and heavy equipment (e.g., sewer-jet, dump truck, snowplow, front-end loader, backhoe, etc.) in the performance of street and alley repair, water and sewer repair, and snow and ice control duties; repair/replace concrete curbs, sidewalks, traffic signs; vehicle and equipment repair and maintenance; setup and execution of community events; cemetery grave excavation and burial; apply various chemicals to roadsides (e.g., fertilizer, herbicides, pesticides, fungicides, etc.); apply chemicals to control local mosquito population;. assists with water breaks, sewer and lift station repairs; drainage maintenance.
40% (2) Performs a variety of unskilled maintenance (e.g., brush removal, washing and waxing vehicles, refuse removal during community events, mow cemetery, etc.); uses equipment and vehicles for storm and sewer drain cleanup (e.g., removes broken trees and limbs, cleans up debris, leaves, and brush, etc.).
(3) Maintains contact with vendors, contractors, engineers, the general public, and various government agencies/officials in order to obtain or disseminate information related to the essential position functions.
(4) Maintains required licensures and certification.
(5) Meets all job safety requirements and all applicable OSHA safety standards that pertain to essential functions.
(6) Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.
