This position performs a variety of mechanical, electrical and plumbing maintenance on buildings and equipment. Work is performed independently or as a member of a crew, depending on the nature of the task.

Shift: Mon-Friday; 7a-3:30p
Hourly Pay Rate: $16.50-18.50, DOE
Responsibilities:
Performs daily inspections of equipment, prior to and during use.
Changes oil, filters, lubricates assigned machinery. Uses power tools to sharpen blades.
Operates street sweepers to clean pavements and parking areas.
Services or makes minor repairs or adjustments to an assortment of grounds maintenance and automotive equipment as appropriate for the operator.
Monitors aircraft frequency radio, obtains instructions from tower when crossing runways and taxiways or when within two-hundred fifty (250) feet of aircraft movement areas, continuously watches for aircraft movement, airborne or otherwise while mowing or spraying around numerous ground level lights or sweeping, repairing or making pavements.
Participates in pavement crack cleaning using high pressure compressed air, a gas fired tar melter, the application of hot/cold sealing compounds, and surface patching.
Operates pavement striping marking equipment in application of striped, lines, numbers & signs.
Participates in excavation of underground electric distribution wires & transformers during repairs.
Assists in replacement of transformers, performs crimping and/or splicing wires.
Changes light bulbs in outdoor lighting and bulbs, ballasts & transformers of florescent lights.
Clears drains and clogs in lavatories, toilets and urinals.
Replaces cracked PVC or damaged valves following freezes or an accident. Clears drains.
Performs related work as required.
Working hours: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
Skills:
Literacy and ability to perform basic arithmetic, supplemented by working experience resulting in a knowledge of lighting, pavement and grounds maintenance methods and material, as well as the use of radios for transit and movement in control area (reason of freedom from impairment of hearing, speech or vision). Completion of security orientation training once hired.

Some maintenance experience, or related maintenance, repair and minor construction activities, or any equivalent combination of training and experience such as vocational certificate in HVAC, welding, automotive or electrical.
