Performs maintenance work on existing equipment, buildings or grounds, inspects, services, and performs mechanical repairsExamples of Work:
UNDER GENERAL SUPERVISION
Uses a variety of hand and power tools in performing maintenance on equipment, buildings and other structures
Maintains records or reports as specified
Cleans and services fountains and pools, inspects pumps and chlorinating equipment to insure they are kept in proper working order
Repairs, replaces, or rebuilds a variety of equipment including water services lines and drains, flush valves, toilet fixtures, light bulbs, cove bases, faucets, door locks and door knobs, floor and ceiling tiles, and more
Performs routine/general maintenance on HVAC equipment, such as cleaning equipment, changing filters, adjusting/repairing belts, required to ensure HVAC and other equipment operates at peak efficiencies
Performs routine/general maintenance carpentry and painting as it relates to repairs to existing buildings and grounds
Clears drains using closet augers or small drain cleaning equipment such as hand held drain snakes and plungers
Assemble office furniture such as desks, chairs, and shelving units
Assist Craftsmen/Journeymen with materials, tasks, tools, and cleanup required as directed
Erects scaffolding or sets up ladders and/or lifts items to perform tasks above ground level
Assumes responsibility for care of assigned vehicle(s), tools, and equipment
Move furniture and materials as it relates to repairs to existing buildings and grounds
Performs related workPhysical Requirements & Working Conditions:
Meets regular and punctual attendance standards and any special needs of the position as determined by management, including mandatory overtime and performing related work
Some exposure to noise, dust, grease, smoke, fumes, noxious odors, gases, and all types of weather and temperature conditions; work and/or walk on various types of surfaces including slippery or uneven surfaces and rough terrain.
Frequent walking, standing, bending, stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting at waist; lifting objects weighing up to 35 lbs. and transporting distances up to 50 yards.
Works around moving parts, carts, or machines, and irritant chemicals
Lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds in a team setting
Occasional exposure to significant levels of temperature, air pollution, noise pollution, chemical gases and substances
Lifts, pushes, and pulls objects weighing up to 50 pounds
Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or the equivalent
Must have two years of maintenance work experience
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted
