Responsibilities

What it takes to be a MAINTENANCE UTILTY OPERATOR with MEC:

  • High school education or equivalent; advanced technical training or two to four years of Industrial Maintenance experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • Ability to train, communicate, and work with others.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • knowledge of Database software
  • Ability to problem solve
  • Displays ethical behavior and acts with integrity
  • Reliability
  • Ability to lift and move 50 pounds
  • work in high, precarious places; outdoor weather conditions; risk of electrical shock and vibration

What you will be doing as a MAINTENANCE UTILITY OPERATOR:

  • Diagnoses malfunctions in machinery and equipment and troubleshoots with/without the use of control prints
  • Plans mechanical layouts for updates on machinery and follows projects through to completion.
  • Designs and installs simple air and fluid system modifications and updates prints (where applicable).
  • Recognizes and reports safety hazards on equipment and initiates correct actions.
  • Follows lockout procedures and all safety rules in the facility.
  • Handles and labels hazardous and non-hazardous chemical containers properly.
  • Maintains good housekeeping in the work area.
  • Calibrates systems and machine controllers (where applicable).
  • Performs preventative maintenance on all equipment.
  • Performs, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic maintenance and repair of machinery and equipment. 
  • Has basic knowledge of AC and DC motors, controls, and power systems.
  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product
  • Other duties as assigned
