- Summary:
- The Maintenance Technician/ Fire & Life Safety organizes and monitors the Fire and Life Safety program elements in compliance with Federal, State and local regulations and in collaboration with local and state fire officials. The Technician prepares and presents effective employee training on proper fire/LIFE SAFETY response procedures, including organizing fire drills and safety exercises. In addition, this position will ensure the condition of the facility equipment, physical plant and overall physical environment is developed and maintained in a manner to ensure the safety and well being of patients, visitors, and staff. The Fire & Life Safety Technician will have proficient knowledge to maintain and repair essential utility systems.

- SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Education
Certification in Life Safety or previous experience with Fire, Life & Safety programs. Associate's degree preferred but not required.
- Experience
Five (5) to six (6) years experience recommended in two or more related trades. Experience with Fire, Life & Safety programs.
- Computer Skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, email and basic computer skills for other software used throughout the hospital for your area of responsibility.
Basic skills including e-mail, electronic work orders and some familiarity with Building Automation Systems (BAS/BMS). Proficient in Microsoft Office preferred.
- Certificates & Licenses
Valid Indiana driver's license and a good driving record required. EPA Refrigerant Handling Certification preferred.
Certification in one or more trade schools preferred (HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Steam Plant Operation or Stationary Engineer).
- Other Requirements
Strong team working and collaborative skills; ability to work under pressure in fast-paced environment; ability to multi-task and work independently; attention to detail; basic math skills; experience in computer applications to record time, obtain work directions, and complete assigned work orders; intermediate proficiency in Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Access), database management, and document preparation.
