SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing routine building maintenance tasks. The Maintenance Technician is expected to be courteous and professional while upholding the Goodwill core values of -Empowerment, Public Trust, Respect, Innovation, Quality, and Safety.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Responsible for traveling to all agency locations independently to perform facility maintenance.
- Responsible for overseeing building maintenance under the direction of the Facilities Manager. Inspect building facilities to identify building maintenance needs; complete inspection and preventive maintenance reports; recommend, prioritize, and perform corrective maintenance and troubleshoot issues. Inspect property and buildings for life/safety issues and take immediate corrective action.
- Plumbing work may include the installation, repair, and replacement of plumbing fixtures including sinks, toilets, faucets, water heaters, and pipes; clear obstructions from water and sewer lines.
- Work with chemicals used for cleaning, maintenance, and repair purposes.
- Maintain adequate supplies and equipment in working order.
- Adhere to and enforce safety and loss prevention procedures to prevent injury to personnel and damage to property, equipment, and inventory.
- Ensure all operations are performed by department and agency policies and procedures.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Valid Driver License, clean driving record, and proof of minimum liability insurance as required by the State of Texas. Pass pre-employment Drug/Alcohol test. Able to work a flexible schedule.
- Reliable transportation with the ability to travel to all locations and transport large materials such as ladders.
- Ability to read, write and communicate effectively.
- Working knowledge and ability to make basic repairs of major facilities systems (HVAC, plumbing, lighting, and other electrical systems). Knowledge of tools and equipment used in building maintenance, reconstruction, and repair work.
- Self-starter and self-motivated with ability to work with minimal supervision. Resourceful, detail-oriented, and able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks. Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively work with all audiences such as vendors, managers, staff, and individuals outside of Goodwill, regarding work orders.
- Bilingual Preferred.

• Ability to work in hot/cold, humid, and/or dusty environments.
• Ability to bend, push, pull, reach, and stand for long periods.
• Ability to lift and carry 75 lbs.
