The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing skilled and semi-skilled work associated with the maintenance and repair of the college's facilities and grounds.
Essential Functions
• Participates in the repair and maintenance of college equipment and vehicles using a variety of tools, materials, and equipment while maintaining required records, logs, and electronic work order system.

• Installs, maintains or repairs electrical and plumbing systems with associated hardware.

• Participates in grounds maintenance activities, including installing and maintaining landscaping, applying herbicides and pesticides, and maintaining parking lots.

• Maintains fire alarms, sprinkler, and security systems.
(5%)
• Assists with carpentry and renovation projects as assigned.
(5%)
• Responds to emergency requests for repairs.
(5%)
• Other duties as assigned.

Work Environment
Maintenance Technicians often carry out many different tasks in a single day at any number of locations. They may work inside a single building or be responsible for the maintenance of many buildings, building systems, and provide help to staff, faculty, and students as needed.

Maintenance Technicians may have to stand for long periods or lift heavy objects. These workers may work in uncomfortably hot or cold environments, in uncomfortable or cramped positions, or on ladders. The work involves a lot of walking, climbing, and reaching.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a part-time position located on the Murphy Campus. This position is used to fill absences or provide additional assistance when needed at all campus locations. Therefore, this position will be on an as needed basis and will sometimes be required on a weekly basis. Days and hours of work are
approximately 8 to 3:30, Monday through Thursday with some hours possible on Friday. Total hours are limited to 29 hours per week based on the college's needs.
Travel
Travel to other campus locations is required and transportation may be provided by a state vehicle if available.
Required Education and Experience
• A high school diploma or equivalent *and* One (1) year of experience in a skilled trade or building maintenance.
Preferred Education and Experience
• Two years working experience in a large-scale maintenance facility *or* five years' experience in a skilled trade which would have enabled the applicant to acquire the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to perform maintenance duties.
