Position Overview
Lead maintenance associates in trouble-shooting, repair and preventive maintenance activities including: training assigned associates, work planning, assigning and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Install, repair and rebuild material handling systems, electrical/electronic and mechanical equipment. Repair and/or modify facilities (plumbing, electrical, fire protection, general repair).
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Trouble-shoot,repair and maintains machinery and equipment such as conveyors, sorters, electrical panels, balers, lifts, lighting, etc. by performing the following duties:
o Ensures compliance with Lock-out/Tag-out (Zero Energy) requirements, Arc Flash requirements, and all applicable safety requirements
o Troubleshoot, repair, and conduct PM's on mechanical, electrical, and electronic equipment
o Assigns work orders and PM schedules
o Ability to troubleshoot, and work on system peripherals including PLC controls
o Conducts daily walkthrough of facility noting deficiencies and initiating corrective action
o Uses computers to document maintenance and PM actions and parts usage in Maximo (CMMS)
o Communicate effectively at all levels within the facility
o Assists in project management related to the entire facility
o Ability to train others in mechanical, electrical, and facility level roles
o Ability to work alternate schedules (2nd or 3rd shift) or weekends as necessary to fill vacancies, support project implementation, direct scheduled/unscheduled maintenance and repair activities.
o Ensure proper and complete documentation of work orders for work performed by reports
o Performs other duties as assigned
Experience, Skills & Knowledge
Associates Degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school preferred; or four years of documented related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
In-depth knowledge and understanding of conveyors, sorters, facilities, electrical switchgear and associated equipment used to support and maintain distribution centers and offices.
Experience with PLC programming, Allen-Bradley / Siemens / Rockwell controls and Device-net communications networks preferred.
o Requires knowledge and understanding of the distribution material handling systems, sorters (slide shoe, pop-up wheel, tilt-tray, cross belt, etc), PLC control systems, UPS systems, fire protection systems, alarm and monitoring systems, and the associated interdependencies.
o Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, correspondence, and policy instructions.
o Ability to use mathematic skills to perform simple calculations in a work environment.
o Ability to analyze a variety of systemic problems and based on the analysis recommend/take proper course of action while keeping management informed of critical issues.
- Ability to stand, walk, talk and hear. Ability to use hands, to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. Ability to sit, climb, balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Ability to work at heights of 40 feet. Ability to lift and/or move up to 75lbs.
- Must have visual acuity, corrected or uncorrected, which allows close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and color perception.
