Salary Statement

This position typically starts at an annual salary of $31,668 but may be commensurate with education and experience.


Role Overview

You will perform cleaning, general maintenance, and minor repairs to building(s), equipment, and grounds at the National Guard Armory located in Terre Haute, Indiana. The incumbent is responsible for the entire facility and grounds excluding those areas of military responsibility such as kitchens (except when included in a rental agreement), OMS areas, military supply rooms, vehicle compounds, POL building, and other like areas.  You are not required to have a CDL.

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this roles are as follows:

  • Make routine carpentry, plumbing, and electrical repairs.
  • Check heating, air conditioning, kitchen, laundry, and maintenance equipment for efficiency and make necessary repairs.
  • Install curtain rods, toilet paper and toothbrush holders, tile, screens, window glass, doors, wiring and conduits, plumbing fixtures, and other varied items.
  • Check and repair electrical appliances, motors, pumps, fire alarm systems, thermostats, doorbells, and buzzers.
  • Repair locks, make keys, and provide secure facility and property.
  • Assist a skilled tradesperson on major projects.

What You'll Need for Success:

You must meet the following requirements to be considered for employment: 

  • Working knowledge of, and ability to use skills in, carpentry, masonry, plumbing and electrical repairs. 
  • Ability to read and follow instructions and to handle simple mathematical problems per the mentioned duties above.
  • Ability to determine malfunctions of electrical and mechanical equipment and make simple repairs.
  • Ability to read blueprints and understand schematics.
  • Ability to set tile, finish concrete and plaster, and do tuckpointing.
  • Be willing to travel with reasonable accommodation. 
  • Ability to use a wide variety of hand and power tools.


You must satisfy the following requirements to continue employment:

  • Must possess a valid commercial driver's license (CDL) or must obtain within 90 days of employment.
Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:
This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
