Maintenance Technician
2nd shift, training will be done on 1st shift
The Maintenance Technician maintains and assists in coordinating routine and preventative maintenance on all facility production equipment and building structure including auxiliary systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Completes PM’s for all applicable equipment as scheduled and completes required follow up reports in a timely manner;
- Recommends and replaces equipment components required to keep all equipment running consistently and efficiently;
- Monitors and recommends critical spare parts to assure availability to support maximum production up time;
- Responds promptly to internal production needs to optimize facility manufacturing efficiencies;
- Works closely with the manufacturing department to assure approved production specifications are achieved;
- Possesses desire and ability to learn proper technical operation of equipment and mentor new help if needed;
- Capable of observing and learning in detail, normal operation and set up of machinery and manufacturing equipment;
- Performs job duties in a safe manner following company policies and OSHA/MIOSHA regulations / requirements.
- Acknowledges and understands the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required;
- Utilizes blueprints, sketches, machine vendor manuals, and senior co-workers for specifications and repairs;
- Suggests and implements upgrades to systems and equipment;
- Maintains good communication with maintenance leadership and coworkers on maintenance issues;
- Creates equipment log of remedies and resolved issues with documentation of information and follow-up for future problem solving in Maintenance Management System (MMS);
- Uses technical instruments, mechanical and electrical, to provide solutions;
- Coordinates routine calibrations, preventative maintenance (PM), and repairs with manufacturing leadership; and
- Assists in plant projects and performs other duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities Required:
- Basic understanding of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Servo motors, and Variable Frequency Drives (VFD).
- Basic knowledge in reading and interpreting ladder logic / One Line Diagrams / Schematics and other technical publications.
- Troubleshoot, repair and install automated equipment.
- Desire of learning to analyze and resolve mechanical and electrical technical problems and assisting others in solving equipment issues.
- Ability to use mathematical decimal, fractional, scientific notation units of measure.
- Strong mechanical skills. Basic electrical skills. Motivation and desire to learn.
- Knowledge of or ability to learn Plex Manufacturing software.
Education/Experience Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Minimum 2 years maintenance / mechanical field.
- Basic electrical background
- Above average Math skills
- Trade school certification (Is a plus)
