Pratt & Whitney is planning to invest at least $650 million through 2027 in a world-class turbine airfoil production facility in Asheville, North Carolina. The new, 1,200,000-square-foot facility will house an advanced casting foundry to produce turbine airfoils as well as conduct machining, coating and finishing of airfoils onsite. The new, state-of-the-art facility will implement best-in-class manufacturing technologies and processes exemplifying industry 4.0 manufacturing principles and will complement existing turbine airfoil work that is done across Pratt & Whitney’s facilities.
This is a 1st Shift position: Monday - Friday, 6:45 a.m. - 3:15 p.m.
Employees must stay in a position for 12 months before posting to other positions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Proficiency in installing, maintaining, diagnosing, repairing, and rebuilding plant machinery and equipment to manufacturer’s specifications with focus on EDM and CNC machines.
- Completing all required trainings and complying with safe practices and procedures.
- Read and interpret regulations, blueprints, schematics, service manuals, and process sheets as well as knowledge and use of precision measuring devices..
- Assist in developing PM tasks and recommend changes in procedures and practices to provide an improved level of service.
- Independently handle jobs from start to finish – time estimates, required materials, fabrication, and implementation of projects.
- Reliable, punctual, flexible, and available for OT as required.
Basic Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or Equivalency (GED).
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program / contract.
- 5 or more years' experience in manufacturing maintenance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Mechatronics degree or technical aptitude with desire to learn new skills.
- 3+ years knowledge as a multi-craft technician in the following fields: basic mechanics, rigging, hydraulics, pneumatics, vacuum systems, electrical, automation, and PLC/CNCs.
- Ability to diagnose and repair problems with electronic controls and associated systems relative to industrial equipment operations (Motor Controls, Programmable Controls, CNC Controls, Relay Logic, HV/DC Power Supplies).
- Familiar with OSHA and general safety practices.
- Microsoft Office experience.
- TIG Welding, fabrication, basic machining.

- Must be a U.S. Citizen. This position may require access to systems/tools that are restricted to individuals who possess US citizenship.

This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.
Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee’s personal responsibility.
