Job Description
Pay Rate: $37.00/Hour to $45.00/Hour

Position Purpose:
Performs a variety of semi-skilled, skilled, mechanical, and technical work regarding the preventative maintenance, trouble-shooting & repair of all types of mechanical equipment related to the operation of a Wastewater Treatment Plant Facility and Pump Lift Stations.
Primary Duties/responsibilities:

• Services, diagnosis & repairs all types of mechanical equipment associated with the operation of major WWTP and its collection pump lift stations.
• Performs routine and preventative maintenance, lubrication and minor adjustments on vehicles and all mechanical equipment. Promptly reports any operational problems with machines or equipment to Lead or Supervisor.
• Dismantling and reassembling of all types of mechanical equipment with the emphasis of ensuring the equipment is safe and returning it to an efficient operating condition.
• Performs all duties in compliance with Veolia Water safety policies and guidelines and makes others aware of potential hazards in work area. Practices good housekeeping.
• Participates in cleaning of work areas machinery, tools and equipment in Maintenance
• Services areas.
• May assist with maintaining parts, spares and maintenance inventory.
• Participates in coverage for after hour's emergency calls for Maintenance Services as assigned by Maintenance Shop Supervisor.
• Frequent contact with internal personnel in order to understand maintenance needs.
• Contact with vehicle and equipment suppliers to obtain repair and maintenance instructions.
• May assist with orienting or training new or less experienced personnel.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Work Environment:

• Spends 100% of time in shop or field environment. Typically spends 25 - 35% of time exposed to outdoor and sometimes inclement weather.
• Company service vehicles are used as required.
• May be exposed to possible operations hazards including fumes, dust, toxic and caustic chemicals, noise, moving mechanical parts and vehicles, heavy machinery, high pressure and hot and cold temperatures, slippery surfaces, water, wastewater and electrical hazards.

Qualifications
Education/Experience/Background:

• High school or GED with the ability to read, write and comprehend English (operational, process, safety and quality instructions) and be able to carry out verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
• Must have industrial maintenance/mechanical background.
• Six months to two years' experience in a related position and environment with knowledge of the methods, techniques, and practices of wastewater treatment.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Performs maintenance services, installation or repairs in one more skill areas such as plumbing, machine servicing, basic electrical repairs, installation, painting or vehicle servicing.
• Performs routine and preventative maintenance, lubrication and minor adjustments on machines and related equipment including pumps, engines, generators, valves (pneumatic & hydraulic), gates, and blowers.
• Learns to inspect and becomes proficient at mechanical troubleshooting to determine repairs needed.
• Must have ability to safely operate motorized vehicles, drill press, bench press, grinder, band saw, digital and computerized diagnostic instruments, hydraulic jacks and lifts, air tools, wrenches, drivers, air compressor, lubricants, greases, coolants and related fluid, cleaning equipment, portable radios, telephones, computers, copiers, printers and other equipment and devices related to Maintenance Service.
• Good verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
• Must demonstrate ability to work in a team environment and willingness to assume additional or new responsibilities readily.
• Must demonstrate proficiency in the care and use of all site specific, facility required PPE (Personal Protection Equipment), including gas detectors, confined space equipment, etc.).
• Must be able to serve rotational 24 hour emergency on-call and after hours emergency call-outs.

Required Certification/Licenses/Training:

• Employee Orientation, Departmental Operating Procedures, OSHA and Quality Training. Veolia equipment training.
• Contributes and participates in required and recommended safety programs and training sessions.
• Forklift Certification if required by site.
• May perform more advanced functions as part of training and development.

Physical Requirements:

• Amount of time spent - Standing 75%, Walking 25%.
• Requires close visual and hearing observation to detect non-conformance and equipment malfunction.
• Constantly uses hands to finger, handle or feel and frequently reaches with hands and arms.
• Works in various positions; works on ladders, and works with hands extended above and below head and body up to 40 minutes using hand and power tools weighing up to 15 pounds.
• Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds (occasionally 60 pounds) distances of 10 feet.
• Occasional stooping, bending or kneeling and entering confined spaces.
