Job Summary
The Maintenance Mechanic III is responsible for performing advanced maintenance and repair tasks on various machinery, equipment, and systems within the company. This role requires a high level of technical expertise and experience in troubleshooting and maintenance. Perform preventative services, maintenance and repairs to printing and converting machinery. Independently troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and control problems using equipment manuals, drawings, and schematics while following proper safety protocols. Perform administrative responsibilities, determine maintenance priorities, delegate work, direct and mentor Maintenance Mech I and I level technicians. Follow GMPs and good housekeeping protocols as well as other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Maintenance Manager
Essential Job Functions
- Perform complex repairs and maintenance tasks on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Diagnose equipment malfunctions and develop effective repair solutions.
- Conduct preventive maintenance on machinery and equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Respond to emergency maintenance requests and address breakdowns promptly.
- Install, calibrate, and upgrade machinery and systems as needed.
- Proficient at stick, MIG, and TIG welding.
- Ability to perform machining operations using lathe, Bridgeport, or drill press.
- Ability to diagnose problems and make repairs to hydraulic, pneumatic, and/or dryer systems.
- Ability to perform repairs to print deck components, make gear changes, calibrate/align optical scanners, perform roll changes , wire multitap motors.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment history.
- Collaborate with other team members and departments to optimize production and minimize downtime.
- Train and mentor junior maintenance staff as required.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain a safe work environment.
- Assist in the procurement of spare parts and maintenance supplies. Perform other duties as required or as requested by Supervisor or Manager.
Skills and Knowledge
- 5-7 years Mechanical skills, electrical is a plus.
- Understand fundamental lubrication concepts as defined in ICML MLT
- Able to perform basic mathematical functions (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.
- Ability to communicate effectively and clearly, orally or in writing.
- Basic computer skills for maintenance software
- Proficiency with using hand and power tools.
- Visual acuity to prints and plans, machine details.
- Ability to read and understand manuals, policies, and procedures. This would include, but not limited to, electrical, pneumatic hydraulic, control, and mechanical drawings.
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
- Basic understanding of PLC inputs and outputs and troubleshooting.
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, on-call when necessary.
Education and Experience:
- 5-7 years’ experience in a production distribution environment-role in machine operating or maintenance.
- High School Diploma, general education degree or equivalent.
- Experience in manufacturing, the printing distribution and/or packaging is a plus.
- Extensive knowledge of safety policies and applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards.
- OSHA 10/30 certification a plus
Physical Requirements
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, and use hands to handle or feel.
- Visual acuity to written material.
- Verbal communication, visual acuity to prints and plans, manual coordination and dexterity in the use of various hand and power tools.
- The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:
- The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
- Period lifting of pallets weight and material weighing up to 50lbs.
- Intermittently on feet for approx. 8-12 hours daily on concrete floors.
- Squatting, crouching, turning, twisting, stretching, climbing steps, grabbing, pulling, pushing, and bending.
- Visual and hearing acuity within normal limits.
- Physical ability to climb and work on or around machinery.

Typical environment of manufacturing and production facilities. Exposure includes but is not limited to continuous noise, scent of materials, bright workstations, machinery with moving parts.
