The Maintenance Planner builds an interdepartmental partnership between Maintenance and other plant departments with the sole focus of achieving cost-effective equipment reliability excellence. The Planner works along with plant personnel to create a climate that promotes a concern for quality and precision. The Planner works directly with the Maintenance Reliability Manager to build a reliable SAP database and maintenance team, all in compliance with applicable laws, regulations and Company policies and procedures. Works with Engineering throughout major projects providing input in area of expertise to ensure a smooth hand-over of equipment.
1. Maintain Plant Equipment
a. Organize and coordinate the Maintenance Department to repair and maintain the equipment in a cost-effective manner which promotes optimal production and operating efficiency.
b. Helps identify repetitive problems, troubleshoot equipment and develop and implement solutions.
c. Oversees condition based monitoring to predict required maintenance before failure occurs.
d. Coordinates investigations of critical failures and report findings.
2. Planning and Scheduling
a. Estimates, plans, schedule and analyze plant maintenance work.
b. Prioritizes and enters work orders.
c. Assigns work orders to specific departments.
d. Develops weekly repair schedules for the Maintenance Department.
e. Develops short shutdown repair schedules.
f. Prepares and documents preventive maintenance schedules for all equipment.
3. Work Order System
a. Maintains and maximizes the utilization of the SAP system.
b. Ensures accurate information on work orders, what work is required, and what work was done for proper planning and accurate historical records.
4. Supervision
a. Oversees contractors in the plant working for the Maintenance Department.
b. Manages by walking around, observes jobs and ensures safe work practices.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Five plus years' experience in plant maintenance, cement industry strongly preferred.
- Minimum 2-year technical degree preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of Kiln and Mill operations.
- Demonstrated organization and delegation ability.
- Ability to organize and lead a team.
- Ability to physically inspect plant properties where climbing steps, ladders and physical exertion is a primary responsibility.
- Ability to effectively create and implement a maintenance plan.
