Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Performs custodial, housekeeping and cleaning tasks for assigned and scheduled areas
- Performs, assists in, and/or coordinates resources for inspections of facility systems/equipment
- Maintains, troubleshoots and repairs facilities mechanical components and electrical equipment and systems in accordance with SOPs (standard operating procedures), internal requirements, manufacturer's specifications and safety policies
- Executes small projects and repairs to minimize external contractor labor
- Engages with innovative ideas and initiatives that contribute to efficiency and savings
- Supports execution of CapEx type of projects and non ”day to day” activities
- Proactively identifies process improvement initiatives to support team-goals and performance
- Ensures compliance with all company policies and procedures related to safety and environmental regulations and SOPs which includes but is not limited to waste management (hazardous and non-hazardous)
The opportunity
The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for preventive and daily maintenance, custodial care and housekeeping of the site, operating, monitoring, and maintaining utilities, equipment and facilities. They handle repairs including, but not limited to HVAC systems (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) and setup as well as maintenance, painting, patching, plumbing and minor electrical works. This position serves as an integral member of the site facilities team.
Your experience and qualifications
- Education Required: High school diploma or G.E.D.
- Experience Required: Minimum of three (3) years of experience with custodial/housekeeping/general building maintenance and with hands on mechanical, plumbing and electrical trades preferred
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above
- Able to operate handcarts, dollies, sweepers, buffers, vacuums, basic hand tools, and display a willingness to learn
- Possess familiarity with OSHA requirements and safe practices
- Possess willingness to assist where needed to ensure the company meets its goals and objectives on time, willing to continue learning new skills and trades
- Possess excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills
- Highly motivated self-starter that can identify potential problems and collaborate with management to take action
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills and a strong attention to detail
- Strong organizational, problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Able to work independently and handle multiple competing priorities within tight deadlines
- Able to communicate professionally and effectively both verbally and in writing
- Demonstrates ability to work well with diverse cross-functional groups
- Interpreting and applying Federal, State and local policies, procedures and regulations for FDA, EPA and OSHA
- Bilingual skill (English/Spanish) preferred
- Available to work Monday to Friday 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. and 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
- Required to work extended hours and on weekends when necessary
