Maintenance Mechanic - 3Rd Shift

The principle tasks of the Maintenance Mechanic are as follows:

• Performs necessary maintenance on all mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment, including installation of new equipment and the reconditioning of existing equipment.
• Troubleshoots and diagnoses problems in all defective equipment as covered above.
• Performs the necessary machine, sheet metal, carpentry and welding operations to make repair parts, or to alter and modify defective parts.
• Performs preventative maintenance on equipment as assigned.
• Must be able to read and interpret drawings, sketches, wiring diagrams, manufacturer's manuals and instructions.
• Performs necessary maintenance on heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.
• Instructs and trains helpers as required.
• Makes reports and maintains the necessary records of work orders and service records.
• Coordinates with the department supervisor any equipment or material problems.
• Must have knowledge of proper procedures for handling of containers of hazardous waste materials. Must be familiar with location and use of all safety equipment such face shield, gloves, etc. Must be familiar with the proper use of containment materials and removal of contaminated residue should a spill occur.
• Performs housekeeping duties as required or assigned.
• Adheres to all plant and departmental safety rules.
