Summary- Maintenance Helpers are responsible for assisting and/or performing maintenance functions in a timely, safe, and in a cost-effective manner.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in the mechanical troubleshooting for all scheduled and added workloads throughout the day.
  • Performs scheduled machine-specific preventative maintenance procedures and recommends follow-up repairs when needed.
  • Assist with installation of new or old machinery/equipment. As well as the removal of the machinery/equipment being replaced.
  • Routine maintenance that may involve carpentry and general building maintenance.
  • Assists in the troubleshooting and repair of mechanical equipment such as forklifts, hand carts, hand jacks, bearings, gearboxes, drives, conveyors, electric motors, etc.
  • Is trained in and performs confined space entry as needed.
  • Communicates status of repairs to the Maintenance Manager and/or Maintenance Lead.
  • Ensures a clean and safe work area.
  • Reports any safety concerns or issues to the Maintenance Manager and/or the QC/Safety Coordinator.
  • Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment for potential problems.
  • Listens for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunctions and discusses machine operation variations with the Maintenance Manager, Maintenance Lead and/or other maintenance employees to diagnose potential problems. Repair or replace as instructed by Maintenance Manager or Lead.
  • Assists in the dismantling of defective machines and equipment. Assists with the installation of new or repaired parts.
  • Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
  • Assists in the installation and require of electrical apparatuses, such as transformers, wiring, electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment parts.
  • Assists with the fabrication and installation of electrical conduit.
  • Operates cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join mental
  • Performs groundskeeping tasks, such as: snow removal.
  • All employees are responsible for reporting food safety issues to those who can initiate corrective actions.

Qualifications

  • Strong Mechanical skills (advanced training helpful).
  • Problem Solving Skills- identifies and resolves in a timely manner, gathers and analyzes information skillfully, develops alternative solutions, and works well in a group solving situations.
  • Technical Skills- strives to continuously build knowledge and skills, shares expertise with others, and pursues training and development opportunities.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Reasoning Skills- ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in situations.
  • Basic machine shop and welding.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Must have good math skills.
  • Must have good organizational skills.
  • Must have an excellent attendance record.
  • Willingness to work in all environments.
  • Ability to climb and work at high elevations
  • Valid Drivers license

SCHEDULE:

  • Monday to Friday
  • Full Time, 40 Hours
  • Must be available to work Saturdays
  • Must be available to work overtime
  • Training would be done on 1st shift then move to 2nd once fully trained
PAY: Starting at $21.00/hour

The employee must occasionally lift and or move up to 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, dept perception and the ability to focus.
