WHAT THE ROLE DELIVERS
This is an amazing opportunity to influence and be a part of the Bay City Plant startup team at our new state-of-the-art MMA production facility!
The Plant Maintenance Engineer provides support for the Röhm America Production Site in Bay City, Texas, Manufacturing Operation comprising the Formalin, MAL, MMA Reaction, and Purification plants, as well as Utilities. This role is responsible for providing services related to mechanical design review, repair and maintenance, including predictive/preventative maintenance activities as well as the safe and efficient operation of process equipment. This role will additionally lead, develop, and/or contribute to continuous improvement aligning closely with related functions within the organization. This position provides technical support to Root Cause Failure Analyses, troubleshooting of problems, and monitoring PM programs.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Support commissioning activities of new plant build.
- Lead, plan and guide the technical design of maintenance projects including technical review of design modifications and projects, prepare reports as needed summarizing the status of ongoing projects.
- Ownership of all SIS Safety Instrumented Systems.
- Utilize work processes and modeling applications to effectively improve equipment and process reliability.
- Analyze KPIs to identify gaps and areas of potential improvement.
- Adhere to Safe design practices while focusing on identifying cost saving opportunities.
- Develop and maintain Preventative (PM) and Predictive (PdM) Maintenance Plans.
- Ensure / support that adequate process related equipment maintenance systems and programs are in place and that such programs operate in a safe and efficient manner and meet or exceed all regulatory requirements.
- Applying technical knowledge, lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) activities and recommend corrective or preventive solutions including mitigation measures for deviations in Operations, QA, and Engineering processes.
- Apply data analysis techniques to develop engineering solutions to address repetitive failures and other problems that adversely affect plant operations.
- Provide technical assistance, troubleshooting and procedural development for processes and equipment.
- In collaboration with Operations, ESH, QA, Engineering, and internal/external Maintenance, identify, develop, and implement work process optimization measures; Mentor site staff to ensure process adoption.
- Oversee lubrication and pump seal integrity programs.
- Responsible for engineering and procurement specifications for equipment.
- Interact and communicate effectively with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and other consultants.
- Support Capital Projects in scope development, detailed design, and execution.
- Review, develop and maintain process related documentation (P&IDs, PFDs, etc.).
- Provide technical support to plant operations and technical personnel; Lead troubleshooting efforts to minimize downtime.
- Communicate with external partners and internal resources to ensure most current technologies are utilized.
- Develop and deploy digital operation tools and methods.
- Other duties as assigned.
WHAT WE ARE SEEKING
- Bachelor's or more advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline from an accredited institution.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience within the Chemical, Petroleum or Process Industry, preferably in a chemical manufacturing environment.
- Strong technical skills with ability to work collaboratively with other departments and international teams.
- Technical knowledge in mechanical equipment including the ability to read, understand, and update P&IDs and other technical documents.
- Must demonstrate a working knowledge of all applicable engineering principles and standards and their application.
- Knowledge of operating processes, equipment, and materials, including critical analysis skills to effectively evaluate manufacturing performance and develop improvements.
- Actively participate in Process Safety Management work practices such as Management of Change (MOC) and Process Hazard Analysis (PHA).
- Proficient with MS Office.
