Job Description
- Repairs, installs, replaces and tests electrical circuits, equipment and appliances.
- Uses hand tools and testing instruments.
- Inspects and tests electrical equipment, lighting, signal, communication and power circuits.
- Isolates defects in wiring, switches, motors and other electrical equipment using testing instruments such as ammeter, ohmmeter, volt meter or testing lamp.
- Replace faulty switches, sockets and other elements of electrical systems.
- Dismantle electrical machinery and replace defective electrical or mechanical parts such as gears, brushes and armatures.
- Mount motors, transformers and lighting fixtures into position and completes circuits according to diagram specifications.
- Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
- Inspects completed work for conformance with requirements of local building and safety codes. Estimates time and materials cost on electrical projects.
- Requisitions new electrical supplies and equipment.
- Must be able to read and understand all electrical testing instruments.
- Must be able to read and understand blueprints and electrical schematics and logic diagrams.
- Employee must be able to read and understand and follow all electrical cautions markings, including NFPA arc flash warnings.
- The employee is required to stand, on cement, reach with hands and arms and stoop over 2/3 of the time.
- The employee is required to lift up to 75 pounds.
- The employee must have good vision (close distance, color, peripheral, depth and focus.
- The employee is required to wear any PPE that is recommended or required for the specific activity, including the PPE and safe approach warnings on the Arc Flash warning signs., eye protection, hardhat, hearing protection and steel toed shoes, Shoes must be rated with the EH(electrical Hazard) certification and follow all GMP rules and regulations.
- Employee will complete all duties/work as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor or Maintenance Manager
- Ability to apply advanced skills and may develop advanced skills using tools and equipment appropriate for the position or specialization.
- Adapts procedures, processes, tools, equipment and techniques to accomplish the requirements of the position.
- Duties and tasks reflect substantial variety and complexity.
- Assignments are broad in nature and usually require originality and ingenuity.
- May serve as a resource to others in the resolution of complex problems and issues.
- Works under the general supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor.
- Must be able to work in a noisy, wet and cold environment of approximately 32 to 36 degrees Fahrenheit
- Ability to use a multi-meter and other measurement instruments.
- Ability to troubleshoot and/or modify PLC controls, such as Allen-Bradley, GE Fanuc.
- Fabricate and modify parts using shop equipment; utilizing sanitary welding equipment procedures
- Ability to demonstrate proficient fabrication and welding systems and skills
- Operate our CMMS system and demonstrate 100% functionality in order to complete work orders as well as log corrective maintenance issues in the system.
- Ability to become certified in the use of forklifts, aerial lifts, and/or boom lifts.
- Ability to work with computer programs, such as Word and Excel.
- Typically, has up to (2-4) years of experience position or specialization.
- High School diploma or equivalency (such as a technical degree) required; specific technical training to support the Maintenance Skills Summary.
- Hold an electrician's license.
