Full Time Non-Exempt: 37.50 hours per week, Tuesday-Thursday 12-8pm, Friday 10-6pm, Saturday 9-5pm
The Deerfield Public Library is looking for a dedicated professional committed to providing excellent customer service to patrons and staff and assuring a high level of productivity in facility operations. Areas of responsibility include housekeeping, minor building maintenance, and meeting rooms set up to ensure a welcoming, clean and safe environment for patrons and staff. The ideal candidate will also be flexible, proactive and have the ability to handle a variety of library facility responsibilities.

Essential Job Functions:
- Perform routine building maintenance duties, including housekeeping, minor building repairs
- Arrange and set up meeting rooms to ensure a welcoming, clean, and safe environment for patrons and staff alike
- Complete minor administrative duties, such as regularly checking email for interdepartmental updates, keeping accurate timesheets, and helping the Maintenance Manager maintain accurate maintenance records
- Comply with all safety and health regulations
- Keep inventory of maintenance and cleaning supplies and equipment, and report needs to the supervisor
- Respond to calls for maintenance and repairs
- Respond to alarms or building incidents by notifying the Person in Charge and completing a detailed Library Incident Report
- Uphold the cleanliness of the building and grounds
- Actively seek and incorporate feedback, ideas, and recommendations from peers and superiors regarding library facility operations
- Execute all tasks in a safe and courteous manner, maintaining composure during emergencies
- Diagnose and troubleshoot issues to the best of your ability seeking additional help when necessary
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Reliable transportation is required
- A minimum of 1 year experience in custodial or maintenance preferred
- Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical systems (including SOP and maintenance schedules) is a plus
- Strong verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with peers and superiors
