Contracted Days: 12-month position; 260 days, 8-hours per day, overtime may be required pending on district needs, as directed by the Supervisor of Facilities and Operations
Salary: In accordance with the OAPSE negotiated agreement
Reports To: Building Principals and the Special Education Director
Evaluations: Performance evaluated annually in accordance with the OAPSE negotiated agreement
Job Specific Qualifications:
- Physically able to climb ladders, scaffolding, and other related equipment
- Able to lift and carry objects of at least 50 pounds
- Adept in the operation of power equipment essential to position duties and responsibilities
- Engage in learning and professional development opportunities
- Basic math skills including calculations, fractions, percentages, and ratios
- Must be approachable and able to work well with staff
- Mechanical aptitude
- Proficient electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, machining, and masonry skills
- Computer literacy is a must to navigate various computer programs associated with the efficient operation of the district facilities
- Willingness to perform other specific job-related duties as directed by building or district administration
Responsibilities and Essential Functions: Includes some or all of the following depending on the assignment.
- Examine school buildings for needed repairs or maintenance and report to supervisor
- Perform needed maintenance or repairs of all district buildings and equipment
- Report any unfavorable grounds and building conditions to supervisor
- Snow removal as assigned
- Preventative maintenance on all district equipment
- The overall upkeep of the district grounds and facilities
- Ensure the safety and security of the district facilities
- Maintain accurate record of work orders, operating equipment, maintenance equipment, and inventory and supplies
- Seasonal grounds keeping tasks to include but not limited to mowing, trimming, landscaping and snow removal
- Operate required machinery including but not limited to tractors, mowers, snowplow, and power tools
- Maintain and/or repair electrical, plumbing, carpentry or masonry 1 Austintown Local Schools
- Erect scaffolding, platforms for the purpose of preparing work sites for construction and/or repair
- Maintain tools and equipment for the purpose of ensuring the availability of equipment is in safe operating condition
- Respond to emergency situations (e.g. broken/clogged pipes/drains, faucets, gutters, sprinklers, grease traps, etc.) for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns Installation of various items (e.g. gas and water pipes, fixtures, cabinets, etc.)
- Prepare and paint various surfaces for the purpose of protecting District property and/or maintaining attractive grounds and facilities
- Operate power lift equipment to perform elevated tasks including but not limited to changing light bulbs, Univent motors, electrical outlets, plugs and switches
- Occasional welding as necessary
- Heavy lifting and moving of furnishings and equipment of 50 lbs. or more
- Regulate ventilating and heating/air conditioning equipment Maintain proper ventilation, temperature and humidity levels throughout all district buildings
- Transport various items (e.g. tools, equipment, supplies, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability of materials required to perform duties efficiently
- Adhere to safety practices while operating machinery and/or power equipment.
- Assembly of various furniture and equipment
- Performs all other duties related to job classification as directed and/or assigned by the Facilities and Operations Supervisor, District Administration, Superintendent or designee

- High school diploma or equivalent
- Current and favorable State and Federal background checks
- Negative drug screen result
- Successful completion of the skills test
SKILLS TEST WILL BE ADMINISTERED
The test will cover custodial, and general maintenance related skills required of the position.
