Job Objectives
Research, plan, and perform all operations necessary to design, build, rebuild, modify, repair, maintain, and improve equipment as directed. Assist with installations of capital and/or expensed projects (with a foremost safety priority).
Essential Job Functions
- The R&D Welder/Fabricator I follows blueprints and bills of materials, selects, measures, cuts, and assembles parts and projects.
- Must be able to hold +/- .015” tolerance.
- Lifting, moving, and holding or clamping work pieces to a table, into jigs, or position as directed manually or using a pry bar.
- Moving work pieces, tools, and supplies manually or by hand truck.
- Report and detail product malfunctions.
- Welds/cuts aluminum and steel parts with GMAW and gas equipment as specified by blueprints and work orders.
- Ability to weld thin gauge material (10ga to16ga)
- Bolts, clamps, and tack weld parts are in place to secure them for welding operations.
- Plans layout, assembly, and welding of products.
- Verify dimensions and product specifications.
- Must be able to create, read, and interpret blueprints and engineering plans.
- Order Parts, Perform Work orders, and maintain all documentation associated with the work order.
- This position requires working with the R&D/Engineering team and maintenance staff on projects and equipment maintenance.

Job Standards:
- Must be able to stand for a minimum of ten
- Regular and on-time attendance
- Familiarity with standard welding tools and procedures, including MIG welding. Gas welding, metal fabricating, grinding, and finishing metals.
- Mechanical aptitude
- Must be able to lift and carry work-in-process which could weigh 50
- Perform all work according to standards and in a neat and workmanlike
- All work must be performed while adhering to all mandated Federal, State, Local, and company Safety Regulations.
- Forklift Certified
Education/Experience/Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required to transfer or interpret the explanation of problems and to receive and understand work assignments.
- Ability to weld/cut steel parts with GMAW and gas equipment.
- Excellent motor skills (hand/eye coordination) are necessary for the equipment used in this job.
- Requires a high school diploma or graduation from a technical or trade school. Must have 4-6 years of related experience.
Non-Essential Function:
- Clean all areas where work is performed of material, parts, oil, grease,
- Research and provide documentation to the storeroom of needed
- Must always be able to interact with employees professionally.
Equipment:(Machines, devices, tool, and personal protective equipment:
Welders, drills, drill presses, grinders, cutters, saws, hoist, shears, , threaders, calipers, micrometers, & related items. Steel-toed shoes, safety glasses, ear protection, face shield, welding hood, sleeves, and safety gloves.
Job Location:
All Manufacturing and Distribution facilities. Noise levels require the use of earplugs. Due to noise levels, verbal communication may sometimes be challenging. The area is not air-conditioned. The floor is concrete with no floor covering.
Testing Required for this position:
- Testing will consist of written and extensive verbal questioning concerning this function's skills and trades.
