Job Summary
This posting may be used to fill multiple vacancies. There are both day shift and evening shift vacancies available.
These seasonal positions are anticipated to start mid-February2024and are anticipated to go through the end of July 2024.
As a Department of Revenue Office Specialist, you will be part of the team that oversees all incoming mail for the department.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Open and process mail according to various internal mail stations.
  • Open, review, and prepare tax returns, correspondence, and payments for scanning.
  • Use human relations skills to interact with others (common courtesy, tact, interest in positive problem solving, empathy and logical organization of ideas).

To succeed in this position, the candidate must have a strong sense of organization and accuracy when processing and tracking incoming mail. They should be motivated, committed, and able to work both independently and collaboratively. Employees may be exposed to moderate levels of noise and paper dust generated by the materials, equipment, and tools used in the mail room.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge of:
  • English sufficient to read, understand, respond to, and communicate with customers.
  • Standard computer software programs.
  • Math sufficient to maintain records, keep track of incoming mail and work volumes.

Skill in:
  • Customer service sufficient to answer phones, refer callers, and greet visitors with courtesy and respect.
  • Maintaining accurate records and reports.

Ability to:
  • Open and sort mail.
  • Work in a seated or standing position for extended periods of time.
  • Sort and assemble forms and other materials.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience operating a variety of mail equipment, including a Bell & Howell sorter, and Opex mail extraction desk.
  • Experience with income tax forms or related.
  • Ability to operate loading dock doors.
  • Ability to collaborate with a team and work independently.
  • Experience working in fast paced environment.
  • Experience following mail processes and procedures.
  • Time management and strong organizational skills.

Physical Requirements
Standing up to 25% of the day, frequent bending, lifting/maneuvering materials weighing up to 30 pounds or with a push/pull force up to 50 pounds. Sitting for long periods of time with repetitive hand movement on a daily basis.
Additional Requirements
Prior to an offer of employment, a background check will be conducted. This will include, but is not limited to checking degrees and licensures, criminal history, and tax filing and payment history. All individual income tax filing and payment obligations must be current prior to interviewing for this position.
Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).
