Machinist Internship

Cirrus Aircraft is currently seeking an active Manual Machinist/Machine Tool student studying at Lake Superior College or Northwood Technical College interested in a part-time internship in Machining at our Metal Works facility. This is a part-time internship opportunity (16-20 hours per week) based in Duluth, MN.

Schedule Options:

This internship runs January through May 2024.

Schedules will be discussed on a case-by-case basis to accommodate student and business needs.

• Day shifts (flexible to accommodate Monday through Friday half days, or a couple days at full 8-10 hour shifts to equal 16-20 hour per week).
• Evening shifts (Monday through Thursday, 4-9:30pm).

Job Duties:

• Responsible for fabrication of machined piece parts and tooling, prototypes, molds and tooling - fixtures.
• Machine parts from models, blueprints, drawings, and verbal directions.
• Operating conversational milling machines. Set up, operating and editing of Vertical / Horizontals Machining Centers. Haas machine experience is preferred.
• Mazak CNC lathe positions are needed. Set up and operate. CNC lathe live tooling experience is a plus.
• Filling out work instructions properly.
• Understand the planning flow and be able to adjust and explain planning procedures.
• Ensures that all assigned work areas are kept clean, orderly, and safe at all times.
• Ability to work with in a team environment.
• CNC Programming is not a requirement of either CNC Vertical or Horizontal Milling or CNC Lathe - Machinist positions.

Qualifications:

• Current Manual Machinist student studying at Lake Superior College or Current Machine Tool student studying at Northwood Technical College.
• High School Diploma or GED required.

Additional Requirements:

• Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen & background check.
• Must be able to complete entire duration of internship.
• Must be able to secure local housing for duration of internship.
