We are looking for a Machinist Intern for our Huntersville, NC facility. In this role you will train to set up, program at the machine, run, monitor quality and process and inspect precision machined (tight tolerance) parts. You will perform tooling duties including ordering, set up and maintenance and operate both CNC and manual equipment
Your Responsibilities
- Perform mechanical in process inspections using precision measurement equipment such as, but not limited to, calipers, micrometers, pin gages, thread plugs, thread ring gages, thread gages, surface plates,, optical comparator, surface plate, CMM and noncontact inspection systems to assure high quality precision machined parts.
- Complete data processing move transactions as required.
- Prepare written and verbal reports, metrics and data as directed. Updates into computer systems.
- Follow health, safety, environmental and continuous improvement (lean) requirements.
Your Profile
- High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
- This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e., 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee; Must be able to obtain a security clearance.
- Must be working to complete a certification or degree in machining.
- Short run (job shop) experience and milling, lathe or mill/turn experience preferred.
- Must have basic understanding of geometrical tolerancing and dimensional measurements per ASME Y14.5.
- Computer Skills - Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook), internet, etc. Mastercam or Siemans NX CAM preferred.
- Familiarity of various CNC controls systems such as Mazatrol, Okuma, Fanuc, etc.
