Machine Learning Scientist

The Machine Learning Scientist is responsible for developing state-of-the-art machine intelligence functionality for VisualDx’s clinical decision support products for both healthcare professionals and consumers.

Essential Functions

1. Performs Machine Learning research and develops new Machine Learning models for purposes such as:

• · Recognition of medically relevant features in images
• · Medical classification of images
• · Leveraging Large Language Models (LLM) and NLP to analyze user input and medical texts
• · Intelligent dialogs with users to elicit relevant clinical information
• · Improved differential diagnosis generation algorithms

2. Devises experimental strategies and designs to advance intelligent features of VisualDx products

3. Incorporates machine intelligence features into VisualDx products

4. Works with Engineering and Product departments to improve and enhance VisualDx

5. Works with product planning to understand where machine intelligence can be applied to improve product usability and user results

6. Applies data science methods to analyze user-entered data to identify areas for improvement in the products and in VisualDx’s medical knowledge

7. Interacting with external research and business partners on technical details of joint projects

8. Participates in external research initiatives and communicates results to internal stakeholders

Essential Qualifications

• Expertise in Deep Neural Networks.
• Strong software development background including Python skills
• Experience working with an Agile Software Project Team
• Ability to multitask and prioritize daily workload
• High level communication skills and ability to collaborate with others

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s or PhD in Machine Learning, computer science or engineering, data science, or related field.
• Background in statistics
• Firm understanding of how Medical professionals problem solve
• Experience in Grantsmanship

Physical Requirements

• Regularly required to talk
• Frequently required to use hands and fingers and reach with hands and arms
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
• Able to travel as needed

The compensation range for the Machine Learning Scientist position is $140,000 - $165,000. VisualDx is committed to pay equity and transparency. Actual salary will be determined by work location, work experience and educational background.
