Jacobs is seeking a creative mechanical drafter with 1 - 5 years of experience in the design of machinery or mechanical mechanisms to join our machine design group. The successful candidate will work in a multidiscipline project team environment to develop custom design solutions to satisfy unique customer requirements. Typical projects include wind tunnel equipment, rocket and jet engine test stands, automotive test cells and other unique test facilities and systems. This position will be located in Crane, IN.

Engineering & Projects Group provides technical and managerial leadership in the design, construction, and startup of advanced test systems and facilities for a variety of clients around the world. Our clients are in the automotive, aerospace, aero-propulsion and other markets and represent both the private and the government sectors.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Projects are often complex and multi-discipline. Mechanical Design Tech Career will be issued specific objectives, approaches, and possible solutions by a supervising engineer or designer. The Mechanical Design Tech Career:
- Produces robust 3D models of mechanism components and assemblies.
- Prepares clear, accurate drawings of components from conceptual sketches or written notes, filling in gaps in specification for common COTS components.
- Makes drawing and model revisions with minimal instruction.
- Performs field work associated with drawing assignment, such as field measurement and sketches.
- Executes acquisition of required data and design information
- Prepares bills of materials requirement lists.
Minimum Experience/Education:
- Drafting Certificate OR Completion of Mechanical Engineering Technology Associates Degree AND at least 10 years relevant experience.
Key Skills:
- Working knowledge of drafting basics, parts of a drawing, and Bill of Materials
- 3D CAD part, assembly, and drawing creation
- Inventor or Solidworks experience
- Experience with common machine design elements: gears, bearings, belts, machine screws, chains, cams, linkages, gearmotors, servomotors, etc.
- Experience in employing GD&T/ASTM Y14.5 in detailed design drawings
Preferred Qualifications:
- Creo or ProE experience
- Experience providing direction to other drafters & designers
